Found a huge bug on my back porch. When I say huge, I mean HUGE! I don't know what killed it, but it seems undamaged. I'm guessing the heat, considering it's size, weight, and how utterly f*****k hot it is outside. My phone is dead, so I'll post pictures later. I can describe how it looks, though.

It is an insect, having 6 legs. The body is about 1^3/8 inches long, ^1/2 inch wide, and about ^3/8 inch tall. The top is colored Black with patterns of dark and light brown, the underside is white with brown legs with a black stripe running from the rear to the middle. The base of the wings starts about ^1/4 inch from the front of the body and are about 1^5/8 inches long. The wings are green toward the base, but turn brown about a third of the way back, and are thin enough to see though easily. Large, black-dark brown eyes jut out the side of it's head.

seriously i've never seen a cicada longer than 2cm and that photo just freaks me RIGHT THE FUCK OUT

I take pride in my relative pacifism, but watching that picture makes me instinctively want to stomp on that bug until it stops moving.

I don't run around with insects myself. Damn things creep me out. But I live in the South. I could just peek outside my door at night and see bugs that big. Said bugs also have a tendency to fly at passerby's face because they're attracted to motion. Somehow, specifically the motion of people's faces.

I'd say you get used to it, but that would be a lie.
