Widow or is the husband on the way?

My military is currently all-male as I'm not a fan of baby shields.  However, I'm trying a fort without danger rooms or traps, so every military-minded immigrant is a potential boon.  I have a promising female recruit who arrived without her husband.  All her kids are adults.  Is there a chance her husband will arrive with another migrant wave or is she a widow?

If he does arrive and impregnate her, you can always dispose of the baby with a population control tower. Just have the tower drop her 1 Z level so she drops the thing then, when she gets off the bridge, drop the baby 25 Z levels to its messy demise.

If you are just going to kill them it's better to just let her carry them into battle. Then they will not only be disposed of, but they could potentially soak up a blow that would otherwise kill or incapacitate her.

Then there was the mother that got enraged during the melee when her baby was struck down in her arms (the gobbo stabbed it in the head).  She proceeded to get revenge on five or six goblins before the rest ran off.  After the battle I checked her thoughts: she was happy, due to a nice table, a sublime door, and enjoying some slaughter, and upset at losing a child to tragedy.  The coffins that were already in place may have helped with this, however, as the body didn't really sit around long before getting boxed up.

Do a fang check on her, just in case... A dwarf with lots of kids but no husband, arriving at a fortress alone, I'd at least check the status screen.

Pretty much every dwarf in fotress mode these days has somebody related that comes in the migration wave or already in your fortress. That's my sure-fire way of finding a vampire.
