I didn't know Toady was quite this snarky.
« on: July 23, 2012, 02:32:30 pm »

Playin' a regular old fort (Minus regular; I'm doing an above ground fort with a custom race.)
Suddenly, I get an announcement that someone had a baby.
Zoom, check out the baby.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Notice the line: "She was born today, which makes her very young indeed."
Didn't know Toady would put something like that in there.
Chances are this has been seen before, but...

Nothing would surprise me about this game.

What kind of mod are you playing that has "A cow like humanoid people with strong large women and small intelligent men" just out of curiosity.

Also, did you notice the last name??!!! "Sugaryknighted" ?!?!!

It's home brew.
Also, Sugaryknighted?
If the town lives long enough, I'll make her a Militia Commander.

"She looks young."
"Yeah, she was born, oh I dunno, about five minutes ago."

I dunno, it just seems snarky to me.
In a funny way, of course.

Toady's weird sense of humor comes across a little bit in DF, but moreso in his other games, especially Liberal Crime Squad. I liked the "metagendersaurus" from Star Zoo.

"No one has gone missing or died yet."

I wonder if "The year is still young" would pop up again if you made it to the second Granite without any casualties?

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I always get a sense that some of the weirder mods have some sort of creepily sexual vibe to them.

Snarky means being critical or cutting or jeering in some way.

I think you might think snarky means anything juvenile/humorous?

Such as that one crossover, Creeper Cavern. You play as creepers. The penis-shaped ninja-shrubbery. Which explode if you touch them. Ahem.

I like how she worships Quesa. Is she a cheese deity, by any chance?

Also, in case this didn't get the hint across, I have returned from my summer hiatus.

If you've got a broker and can look at trade agreements with the other civilizations, and you've had some thief/snatcher activity to make contact, take a look at your import and export records with the kobold and/or goblin civilizations.
