 Here is an early alpha of the manual. I would really appreciate some feedback. I also have one question: I do use the custom masterwork font in it, but of course I do have it installed on my PC. But you guys dont... so how is the html and font portrait on your PC ? Does it show a standard font, or an error message ? And if the font doesnt work (what I expect) does anyone know how I can add it to the repository of the manual, so that it is read out automatically ?

Here the download link: Manual Download

It looks ok. The general concept works. Lots of "lorem ipsum" whatever that is ._.
Idk, if you really wanted it to look aesthetically pleasing, PS a template for all the pages. Give it some nice looking graphics.

Lorem ipsum is a font/template/etc. template text, like "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"

Nice looking graphics I will do only after the content is done, and only if I manage to. This is the first time I use dreamweaver.

So, still, the question about the font ? Anyone ?

@toxicshadow: You had a look at it, so whats up with that ? lorem ipsum is a filler, like putnam said.  And if you have any ideas how to add fancy graphics, go ahead, I would appreciate the help ;) Thats what the thread is about

Meh, I saw this thread when you started it, and I was kinda following it, and then I saw you had an early version of it, so I figured I'd look at what 'professional work of art' you've come up with.

Also, you have the easy navigation down. Frames are an excellent thing to use, they're fast. After you get the content done, you're going to need to make the user want to view it. Not like they're going to load it up and just stare at it, but present it in a user-friendly manner. Don't go too heavy on the graphics (Well I suppose the equipment part is an exception), yet still have some that compliment the manual. I can't really provide you with any art, seeing as I have no graphical talent. Also the font looked fine, but it wasn't your MW one, I think it defaulted to Aerial or something when it couldn't find the MW font.

Oh, and here's a link that may or may not help you, I found it through a quick google search. I'm not sure how good you are with CSS/JavaScript, but if you need anything explained just ask, there's a few people on Bay12 that I know(including myself) has worked with CSS/JS. Anyways here's the link, good luck.

Thanks for the link. I figured that it didnt work. Someone posted a screenshot for me in the mainthread, so it reverts back to whatever is your standard font. I dont know about the css, because it uses URLs, as in: Stuff that is online, and not in a folder structure offline, so I guess in my case there must be an easier solution,since I can just add the font to the download. I have a look later.

And I will keep adding content, and will see what people here in the forum will come up with to improve it. If all else fails, my exgirlfriend is a webdesigner, she'll help, but she is in Vegas just know, and then flies to newsealand...

EDIT: Here an updated version. 4 tabs more (embark profiles, pre-gen worlds, utilities and general changes) as well as at least one example for each thing, like creatures,plants, trees, weapons, armor, and so on. Download MW Manual

Current questions:

How can I get rid of the table-border in the index ? I already set border-width to 0, but it still shows.

How can I tell the html to use the font I would include in the download/sub-folder ?

I feel really stupid, but in the buildings tab I would like to have 2 reactions side by side, not under each other. But I just cant get 2 tables to appear in one line, without a linebreak.

Are you using Dreamweaver? I use Notepad for my HTML EDIT: and Firstpage, for cheaty quick things that I need made up.

Q:How can I get rid of the table-border in the index ? I already set border-width to 0, but it still shows.
A: <table border="0">

Q:How can I tell the html to use the font I would include in the download/sub-folder ?
A: As far as I know html can use only INSTALLED fonts, so the end user must DL and Install the Font.
A2: Write the buttons/links and save them as images and use those (Image of your desired font)

Q:I feel really stupid, but in the buildings tab I would like to have 2 reactions side by side, not under each other. But I just cant get 2 tables to appear in one line, without a linebreak.
A: Three Tables
A2: 1 Parent Table with 2 columns
A3: 1 table in each column of parent

EDIT2:
I've taken a few Web Design courses, not my cup of tea but it helps I guess.

I already did that, as I said.

Ok... there seems to be a CSS trick I will try, and the second solution wont work, because I want text... or better: I need it to be text, for the search function, and for easier editing, and for a smaller filesize.

This is... so very obvious and clutchy, that it is both dumb and genius at once. I love it. :) I am absolutely sure that there is a better solution, and this way is a weird workaround, but I will do it anyway. Ha.... I am laughing so hard just now ^^

EDIT: Who would have thought ? It totally works... :D Thanks Hugo

CSS or style="font-family: font,font,font"

example:

<body style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif">
</body>

Everything in BODY will pick from the first avaiable font. and if all fonts are not aviabile it will use the end-user's default font

EDIT:
a CSS is just so you can do this for many pages at once. Which I beileve is what you want

EDIT2:
Hell you can do it right on the HTML page too

<style type="text/css">
   h2, h3 {font-family: sans-serif}
</style>

inject that at the top of each page, probally in the header if you use that.

Nope, I was more thinking of this:

@font-face {
    font-family: 'KnightsQuestRegular';
    src: url('font-webfont.eot');
    src: url('font-webfont.eot?#iefix') format('embedded-opentype'),
         url('font-webfont.woff') format('woff'),
         url('font-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'),
         url('font-webfont.svg#KnightsQuestRegular') format('svg');
    font-weight: normal;
    font-style: normal;

}

And then either upload the damn font, or redirect this code to a local folder. I also should post this picture of the Dog and the Chemistry lab, that say: I have no idea what I am doing. :)

how the hell does that work? I'm trying to do that with a test file right now

Edit:
I'd assume this should work?

body {font-family: avqest; src: url(avqest.ttf)}

Btw if you lack that font replace it with your font, and make sure it's in the same foulder as the .html
Also this won't work if you have it already installed

EDIT:
nope no luck yet

I have no idea. :)

I followed this link: http://paulirish.com/2009/bulletproof-font-face-implementation-syntax/ and on the site I found another link for a code generator. I just fed it my font, and I got a download packet. Havent done more on it yet. Adding content is a lot more important then the font.
