What height do you think one in game height level is meant to represent?

It's what minecart physics says, and I'm sticking to it.

Bronze Collosuses actually occupy 2x2x3x1.666666... meters in space :P

Minecart physics defined the dimensions of a tile to be 2x2x3 meters, but in the words of Toady One, "it wouldn't make any fewer dragons fit in the tile though".

Tiles are magical empty cubes that stretch to accomadate whatever is inside them yet still show it as the same size as the rest of the tiles. Now I wanna mod in chess-themed megabeasts.
