What magic type would the stereotypical acid attacks fall under?

Hmm... I would say it would probably fall under the category of poison magic and the like (Which is not widely known, so it's not on the list), but you may be able to pull of some type of acid magic with water spells.  You could probably find a poison magic user in the Caedo guild if you really wanted to see.

((Sorry for the delay, I was without internet connection for a while there.))

"Thanks Ricky, you did a good job tonight."  Wondering whether I should report back, I decide on the quicker and more dangerous of the two choices;  going in alone.  Or, almost alone.

Summon my Diminutive Imp, then sneak into the home with my minions, having my imp (try to) hold Udyr hostage while I brandish my dagger menacingly.

"Hello, Udyr.  I think it is time we have a chat about the location of your "employer", Reddrick."

Turn 29

"I knew as much..."

Kira tried to remember basic survival, on where the Fighter's guild was most probably known to be in the general sense of a cartographer.

She then examined the air temperature and the trees for any sign of moss and it's direction in relation to the sun.

Well, the Fighters Guild is commonly known to be Darius, the Capital of Tantalan.  Darius is almost always to the west of where you are, being a coastal city.| You easily remember that there are no rain forests in Tantalan, especially rain forests this size.  As a matter of fact, the only places in the world that even have rainforests are Idelius and Udagar, and given that you saw an elf, Idelius is most likely where you are.

| You have no idea what the temperature could be, but you reason that it is at least 28 degrees Celsius, if not hotter.  You cannot see the sun from where you are.

"Janna, let's take this guy out and move.  His screaming's gonna wake the dead."

Arcane Pulse + Weak Push the thug, then get to another room.

| Your Arcane Pulse goes off without a hitch, | but your push barely manages shoving power.  || Your Arcane Pulse was well on it's way to finishing the job, but the thug punches your attack, making it dissipate into thin air!  || Let's not talk about the other spell you attempted....

Janna: Seeing the thug punch the spell renders her speechless for a while, but she manages to mutter, "Spellbreaking..." | She is in a bit of a stupor....

Enraged Thug: | He attacks Janna, seeing as she's in her own little dream world.  || She completely fails to react, and he sends a fist straight into her jaw, breaking it and throwing her to the ground.  The blow seems to have woke her up from her stupor.

You gain +3 to Redimio Ianus!  You gain +1 to Ianus Somes!  You gain +2 to Ianus!

Zerus laughed a little maniacally. A giant crow warrior, how cool! He hadn't even known those existed.

"Come with me, crow! We're off to find a deadbeat and get him to return overdue library materials. Gently."

Ask around for the guy I'm looking for, crow in tow.

((You're going to go walking with a 12 foot tall crow?  Okay then....))

| You quickly find the deadbeat, and you go up to him, gently asking for the material.

"HEY, MOTHERFUCKER, I HEARD YOU HAD SOME SHIT THAT YOU DON'T OWN!  NOW I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU COME FROM, BUT WE DON'T LET THAT SHIT FLY WHERE I COME FROM!  BITCH, I WILL BEAT YOUR ASS SIX WAYS TO SUNDAY AND THEN TAKE YOU DOWN AND ASS RAPE YOU, MOTHERFUCKER!  I WILL SHIT FURY ON YOUR SOUL, AND YOU WON'T BE CONSCIOUS ENOUGH TO CLEAN UP THE MESS!  WHEN I GET THROUGH WITH YOU, A FUCKING GENEALOGICAL TEST WON'T BE ENOUGH TO FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE!  DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME!?  WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SHIT!!?"

Saying all this while having a gigantic, angry looking crow behind you is not good for the human psyche.  The fool barely manages to point at the stuff the quartermaster sent you for before he defiles his pants and passes out.

Well, that's one way of taking care of a situation.

((Oh boy. Nirur, I'm not going to have internet access for a whole week, so my character is going to put onto auto pilot from Baradine. Still, I'm sure that he can handle my character as an NPC until I get back so I don't see any reason why my character can't join yours on a mission.))

"Oh! Sorry..

Well.. Oh! The bandit battle. Yeah, you seemed to almost disappear. There wasn't any trace of you at all. But anyway, I don't see why we can't do a mission together, as long as we both pull our weight, things should be fine."

Help Nirathi up, and agree to go on a mission with her.
Get a mission. If there's time, learn Repel Weapons.

((Nope, no time for learning stuff while you have MISSIONS to do))

You both go up to the mission person, and ask for a joint mission.  | The clerk seems a bit agitated today, and looks at both of you and says, "Hotshots, huh?  Well I got a mission for you two that you will love."

He hands a slip of paper detailing how a large force dragon has been terrorizing the few settlements that are left in Ggryymirr.

"Oh, and this mission is mandatory.  You have to complete it, or you get kicked out of the guild."

| You summon your tiny minion, and you quietly go into Udyr's home.  Looking around, you find him sleeping on his bed.  You manage to tie him up to his bed without waking him up.  You then stick your knife at his throat at cut it a little to wake him up.

"Wha- What the hell!" he yelled, thrashing at his binds.

You smack him in the face with the hilt of your dagger to shut him up.

"Hello, Udyr.  I think it is time we have a chat about the location of your "employer", Reddrick."

His eyes widen, and then he snarls at you and says, "You ain't gonna get anything out of me.  Reddrick taught me everything I know.  He's like my goddamn father!  I wouldn't sell him out!"

You gain +3 to Summon Diminutive Imp!  You gain +2 to Everto Voco!

((Ugh, I typed this whole long interrogation process, then my laptop crashed.  I guess I'll try to recreate it.))

Now I need to get down to business.  I could either coerce him to give me the information peacefully or through torture....  I guess I don't want to kill him.  Not yet, at least.

Bluff, bluff, bluff the menacing bandit!  Convince Udyr that I am capable of summoning much more powerful demons than the ones I have on display.  Using this attempt at intimidation, gather information on Reddrick's whereabouts and how many outlaws he has with him.

"You see this little imp and my cute fuzzy friend here?  These are the least of your worries.  I can't summon real demons in public for fear of upsetting civilians.  In here, however...." Have Ricky go outside, close the door, then rush to inform my commander and partner of my situation.  I'm sure he'll find some way of communicating. "....I have no qualms about bringing in my specialists.  Some demons can get downright nasty with their torture techniques.  So, tell me where Reddrick is and how many bandits have joined his cause, or we will start getting creative. If you don't believe me, why would I only carry around this puny dagger...." Flourish dagger. "....if I didn't have some way to protect myself through other means?"

((Walking as in walking around with it or as opposed to riding it? Either one's a bit odd, I suppose. :P))

Acquire materials, go on brief joyride riding giant crow, if he's okay with it.

Then return materials to quartermaster, giant crow still in tow.

Appeal to the clerk's boss. Two new recruits are nearly certain to fail, and who knows how many more innocents will die before someone notices that we've been killed and sends someone actually capable of stopping the threat.

"Sorry, Janna, but healing magic isn't my thing, and trying to cast a spell I've never trained can lead to Bad Things," said Thrakor, managing to enunciate the capital letters.

Arcane Pulse + Weak Push the thug, then help Janna to another room.

Really, this is great for training the Ianus meta magic, but the same combo ad nauseum is gone after this mission.

Re: Roll to be a Mage 2.0 - Turn 30, Difficulty Up!
« Reply #175 on: August 04, 2012, 07:41:59 pm »

Turn 30

Hooray!  Turn 30.  The difficulty is going to start going up.  Before, I took the best out of four rolls.  Now I'll only take the best out of two.  After turn 40, there shall be only one roll made.

Oh, and it's possible for you guys to die now.  Your plot armor has disappeared, so try and be smarter with your actions if you want to live.

As a side note, there will be some revisions, but it'll be mostly to spells and the OP.  It shouldn't change gameplay, as the only spells you have now wouldn't be particularly affected.

In here, however...." If you don't believe me, why would I only carry around this puny dagger...." Flourish dagger. "....if I didn't have some way to protect myself through other means?"

((I've never been in a situation like this before.  First time for everything, right?))

| He takes one look at you and says, "Bullshit.  You're just some two bit novice summoner.  In fact..." He manages to snap through the binds with pure strength, "I can probably beat you myself!"

| Your imp blasts out a relatively enormous (really just the size of a regular one) fireball, and it rages towards Udyr.  Too bad it killed itself in exertion.  || Udyr throws a punch towards the fireball, but that doesn't particularly stop it, though you swear you see it get a bit smaller.  He is thrown into a wall, and his arm is on fire. | The blow from the wall manages to knock him out.  You better put out that fire.

You gain +2 to Summon Diminutive Imp!  You gain +1 to Everto Voco! You have mastered Summon Diminutive Imp! The imp has a bit more resistance now, and won't die on a single hit.

((Walking as in walking around with it or as opposed to riding it? Either one's a bit odd, I suppose. :P))

Acquire materials, go on brief joyride riding giant crow, if he's okay with it.

Then return materials to quartermaster, giant crow still in tow.

You grab the stuff, and go flying around on your crow.  He is completely subjective to you, so he has no problems with it.

You go back to the quartermaster and return the junk.

He looks at you for a second, and then mutters, "I... I think that's all I need from you.  You can tell the mission clerk you're done."  He then skulks off, a vacant look in his eyes.

Appeal to the clerk's boss. Two new recruits are nearly certain to fail, and who knows how many more innocents will die before someone notices that we've been killed and sends someone actually capable of stopping the threat.

The clerk sighs, "It's not like you have to fight it.  We just want to negotiate with it, and sending someone powerful might just be a provacation for it.  Dragons are some of the most intelligent beings in the realms, and force dragons are the smartest of all.  He'll know what we're doing.  Go and negotiate the terms, and then come back, telling us what it wants.  That's your mission.  Any more questions?  This mission is of great importance, and you both will be greatly rewarded."

((I've never been in a situation like this before.  First time for everything, right?))
((Yes, Morelli, yes.

Gust, partly for refreshing self.

Begin heading eastwards, but try to spot moss on a tree for knowledge on the northern direction.

Try to look for any course rocks, like surface deposits of magnetite!

You cool yourself off with some neat application of air magic, and you walk in the direction you believe is east, having no true way of knowing.

| You start walking, but you get the strangest notion that this is not the direction you want to go.  You end up in a clearing, still surrounded by darkness.  If there was only a way you could tell where the sun was....

Also, no rocks.

((The sun is blocked out by the canopy.  And apparently, your sense of direction is bad, so you have no idea if you walked north, west or south.  Still, it's only three choices, as you certainly didn't go east.  Also, the Fighters guild is to the west.  You might want to try and head in that direction.))

| You completely and utterly overload the spell, and you are sent backwards into the wall, unable to complete your other spell. (+1 to damage).  || You smash the thug in the chest again, and this time you cave in the chest cavity.  He's fairly dead, now.

| You barely feel the wall as you crash into it, and you quickly scoop up Janna and run out of the room.  | Thankfully, there is no one here to investigate yet, and you manage to get yourself into a room with no guards.

+6 to Redimio Ianus.  +4 to Ianus.  +2 to Mind.

So you're saying here that Irony managed to roll eight straight ones?  Gnarly.

Thrakor looks at Janna and sighs.  "Look, I know you're banged up, but there's nothing I can do for you now.  This is our chance- we've got to move on.  I'm sure the guild healers will be willing to patch you up after this.  Let's get going, for your father."

You'll also notice, if you look closely, that the dragon she summoned is the one Nirur and Ochita are going after right now.
