Airbags might cost more injuries than they save lives, but they definitely do not kill more people than they save.

Seatbelts, etc. Vherid telling RedKing to die, etc
This type of mentality in addition to your seat belt comparison, yes remove yourself from the genepool. Absolutely ridiculous.
Please stop being a dick. Thank you.

wtf man im just here for news from my homestate and you gotta play battleshits with a reliable source
Sorry, but I don't take shit from people, and I stick to my principles.

I'm not really sure what's going on here, truth be told. Gun laws were compared to seat belts, Vherid brought up gun laws again, Redking brought up seatbelts again, and then told Redking to die? And now he thinks that someone's saying he lost an argument (somewhere?) and is harassing him about it, and is reaffirming his early wish for human death. Something something principles.

Yeah, I'm outta here too. This started out on a tender subject to begin with, it doesn't need imaginary arguments and deathwishes.

And I will never understand why MILITARY-GRADE WEAPONS are legal.

You don't need a ak-47 to kill a deer or defend yourself.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

If the USA ever became a dictatorship it would be the duty of it's citizens to overthrow it and re-establish the democracy. That was the intent of including the Second Amendment, and hence why military-grade weapons are legal.

Sorry, but the real army won't flinch at 100-1 or even 1000-1 odds with you, your friends and their pea-shooters (whether or not full auto). They win against way more massive actual armies any time.

Gulf war I had 2 sides of comparable manpower, yet Iraq took 100,000 casualties and wounded, vs ~1000 casualties and wounded on the coalition side. And Iraq was FULL of veterans who'd just come out of a 10-year battle-to-the-death with Iran. Your ragtag civilian buddies will get minced in comparison.

Do you really expect the entire US Armed Forces to remain loyal to a dictatorship?

Furthermore, history has had popular uprisings defeat organized armies before. American Revolution, French Revolution, more recently Lybia, and in the near future Syria.

Also, no, a single soldier could not stand against 100 armed civilians. That's crazy outnumbered.

Luckily for everyone, the odds of the US actually becoming a dictatorship and us actually having to test this are nearly nonexistent.

1000 disciplined and heavily armed soldiers could blow away a crowd of 100,000 untrained civilians, it's not correct to extrapolate from 1 guy vs 100, it's a different economy of scale.

My point is that the world's elite soldiers take on 50-1 odds MANY times, and that's against TRAINED enemies, and they still win.

Your soldiers will be like soldiers everywhere, and the dictatorship will creep up on you, not be boldly announced.

There are a lot of factors you aren't considering. How well supplied are the soliders? How desperate are the civilians? Has the nation been thrown into total chaos? And most importantly, as I mentioned before, how much of the armed forces has gone rogue?

Dictatorships have been boldly announced before, it's just in political code. They're usually called "elections suspended due to a state of emergency" or "temporary military junta". Most of the Middle East and North Africa had been in a "state of emergency" for decades until the Arab Spring.

“Well it does make me wonder, you know with all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying that could’ve stopped this guy more quickly?” Gohmert said. “I mean in Tyler, Texas, we had–my hometown–we had a shooter come in over a domestic matter, and just start shooting people. And it was a guy with a concealed carry–he got killed, but his shooting at this guy caused him to run and no doubt saved a lot of lives. He was a real hero.”
So he apparently wants people carrying loaded guns into theaters.

Nevermind the fact that the perp was wearing full body armor and guns would have been of little to no use anyway.

Either way, >18 means no oversight required, as the purchaser is considered a legal adult.

Really? I could have sworn you actually need a license for that.
For what? Semi-auto rifles? Not really. Well....depends on state. I'd have to check but I'm assuming Colorado (being one of the Mountain West states) has pretty lax gun laws.

EDIT: Yeah, after checking...Colorado not only doesn't require you to register your firearms, it actually prohibits state and local government from maintaining a registration database. And you're allowed to travel anywhere you want with a gun in your vehicle or on your person as open-carry, as long it's use is personal defense ("Yes, sir...I need these 3 rifles and this here tear gas to defend my car! There's bandits up at Dead Horse Gulch, you know!")

Of course, I believe businesses still have the legal right to ban firearms from their premises.

Shit! That happened here?

Not one, not two, but three separate derails from the actual tragedy in the first 11 pages. That and the fact that people are telling other people to die. Yeah, I'm out of here too.

I think you're overblowing it a bit. We derail and rerail all the time in threads. And only one person told someone to die.

Guns would have solved the problem, and if not god would have if were weren't such commies and heathens?

I love the spin involved in that. Sure guns caused the problem, but if we just add MORE guns it'd be solved! So don't use this to draw attention to the problem of guns being too available, use it to argue for them instead.
