Deadliest Animals?

Hey guys,

Just wondering what the most dangerous/badass animals you've managed to catch and breed are, just managed to grab a single black mamba and I'm hoping to get another for a badass snake pit.

I thi k that the giant desert scorpion is on the nasty side. Get a whole bunch, pit 'em, throw in a mime and call yourself Havelock.

There's safe. Then there's unsafe. And then there's the average dwarf fort, which remains unrated because the OSHA inspector flatly refused to go anywhere within a dozen miles of the place.

Giant versions are always a lot more dangerous. If you manage to capture/buy GIANT black mambas...

Giant Wrens. They're big, they're fast and they don't take kindly to your type 'round these parts.

Right up until they catch one of your dwarves alone...

The thread title made me think of one of those shows on Fox- "Tonight on Dwarf Fortress's Deadliest Animals: They thought they were starting a simple outpost in the wilderness, but they didn't know the giant badgers had other plans."

Has anyone encountered a Husked Giant Sponge?  I can't imagine anything more dangerous, since they are effectively unkillable already.  Add the husking phenomena and they also hate all life.  So, combination of one of the most deadly creatures in the game combined with the fact that all it does is sit there until some unfortunate dwarf gets close enough to get pushed to death.

If I'm allowed to bend the rules, then clearly the most Deadly Animal in Dwarf Fortress is the player themself.  How many dorfs have been lost to accidents and "Accidents?"

Barring that, dorfs themselves are pretty deadly to themselves as well.

Coroner: How did he die?
Investigator: He was channeling out a pit, fell 10 z-levels because he was told to dig out the edges first, knocked unconscious and broke both legs during the cave-in, attempted to crawl out of the pit, got attacked by troggs and had both arms broken before overcoming them, then got into a mood, failed to reach a workshop (see: broken legs above), went melancholy and threw himself into magma.
Coroner: So I'll just put down "Natural causes."

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.
I just hope he dies the same death that all dwarfs deserve: liver disease.

I'd watch that.

Dragons.  I got stupid lucky and caught a breeding pair.  I had to mod them a bit before the eggs would actually hatch, but it's totally worth it.

Giant Desert Scorpions, for several reasons
-they can steal weapons and shields from your dwarves
-they feel no pain, only hatred
-they're neurotoxin can kill anything with a brain or spine.

They can kill megabeasts with a single attack. Now imagine a cage with 50 in it.
