I noticed no one appears to have a problem with the fact that you brutally eviscerate thousands of sapient beings with crude homemade traps.

Well, you are doing it to protect a world filled with people, how's that different from all the other games? For example, goblin invasions in Df.

There's no difference, I'm just pointing out that a woman fighting in high heels will bring out people decrying it, but the same game can have you stab a million people to death and that's no big deal.

I don't know if that kind of thought process is all over, I know it's big in America.  There's a clamor about Dr. Manhattan's dick in Watchmen, meanwhile Rorschach is splitting a guy's head open with a meat cleaver.

When you kill one, it is a tragedy. When you kill ten million, it is a statistic.

By that logic, it would be perfectly acceptable to play as an army of ten million nuns in bikinis.

Why has no one thought of this before?

So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I always thought there was a not-so-subtle element of self parody to it.  You take part in a conflict between two equally arrogant, vain douchebags and cause the slaughter of tens of thousands of far nicer, more innocent expendable goons.  On the same note, the sorceress wearing high heels seems in-character given that she's established as an arrogant, vain douchebag who expected all of her work to be done by mind-controlled slaves.

Despite a few large gameplay flaws (no way of planning for wave order, a few useless spells/traps, mushrooms being broken against ogres) the first game was worth my five bucks and I'll probably pick up the second when it goes on sale.

... yeah, great. The "why is sex bad and violence good" strawman/derailment is so predictable, people, and I'm not going there. Goodness forbid we question the portrayal of female characters in any way. I just want my half of humanity to be represented in roughly the same manner as yours -- which absolutely includes villains, goons and redshirts to be blown away. Just don't turn it into fricking torture porn.

I like the "conflict between two equally arrogant, vain douchebags and cause the slaughter of tens of thousands of far nicer, more innocent expendable goons" description for OMD!, Microcline. The game was refreshing in a way because most games treat the player character as the Second Coming, the Chosen One, the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread -- which gets old, too. Poking fun at its own protagonist definitely fit into the theme and style of the game. But nothing about this implies sexualization. Hell, in my eyes it diminishes a theme when the design of the female characters (what few there are) must include it apparently by default.

its amazing how the general gaming community works aint it? drugs? those are horrible! slight nudity? not in my country! visceral violence? whats wrong with that, seems fine.
Sure, whip out your strawman, disregard facts (and grammar), push your point, confuse 'gaming community' and 'assholes in charge of censorship'. Good job.

on the note of the game............

Considering how hard the first one was compared to 90% of games like it (a small genre at that) I am really looking forward to the second one.

No doubt.  I'm kind of hoping this time they give an option for a hard mode that still lets you prepare between waves though.  I didn't play through the hard mode last time because I didn't really like feeling so rushed.

So, I have it on incredibly good authority that this game comes out tomorrow. A while ago I passed over this thread, thinking, "Meh." Then I got the first game for $3.74 (I have paid more for a doughnut) and liked it so much that I pretty much promptly ended up preordering the double-copy of OMD2 since it appears to be one of the few games I can get my girlfriend to play with me.

So, discuss. INB4 the following topics:

-Sexualization and video games
-Complaining about violence (seriously guys?)
-"Buy me a copy!"
-Taking the game as a serious frame for religious, ethical or political discussion.

TL;DR, game is fucking awesome. There's a demo out, by the way, with functioning co-op. I highly recommend it if you're trying to decide whether to buy. Also, if you aren't interested in co-op, the first game is still 75% off on Steam until 10AM Pacific tomorrow. So, there's that.

Nice!

I hope there is more synergy between traps. The first game had some, but in the end not that many setups where really all that effective and I ended up using the same ones most of the time.

Also the main character remind me of Bruce Campbell so much, it's hard not to think he was modeled on him.
I dunno, his dialogue in the first game reminded me more of Deadpool. Complete lack of a fourth wall, possibly mentally unhinged.

Also, it activates in 2 hours. YAAY!
