Can bees be set on fire?
« on: July 17, 2012, 04:20:49 pm »

I have a floor of beehives above my trading entrance and an elven caravan due soon.

Can you set bees on fire?

You should be able to burn them with magma or dragonfire, but there is no fire in the game apart from that. So weaponizing burning bees that fly towards the elves (I assume that was the plan here) is not possible I'm afraid.

Save your fort, edit your save raws and set bees to immolate.

In theory...

Might work, but there are probably better ways to apply the poison.
Bees do not swarm, if you have a hive near your entrance or near an animal pasture they will sting occasionally, but only occasionally and it's only one "honey bee worker". So I guess bees are too weak and too unreliable to weaponize.

Oh yes. You can put an entire hive of bees into a cage.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.
