Swords And Potions (Shopkeeper Browser MMO)

Swords and Potions is a neat little timekiller I found a few days ago. It's a simple-ish timekiller game that puts the player in the shoes of a shopkeeper in a typical RPG. As customers start piling in, you must keep piling up materials, products, and furnishings to keep increasing your profits. It's a kind of time-management game, where you have to decide what the best things to have your crafters do. You can also haggle, suggest different items, or ask customers to wait while you are finishing a craft. It's a pretty neat game. Really the best way to figure out what it is about is to try it!

If you want to build furnishings to boost your store, you have to join a guild. You can easily find one in the chat, or I'll make a Bay12 one if you post your username here.

I just declared bankruptcy, and have to start over, unfortunately. :(

Site link (register here to play): http://edgebee.com
Referral link that I just saw a huge banner for (might as well put it here, but feel free to use either): http://www.edgebee.com/register?referrer_id=3250002&locale=en_us

If you have an account at Armorgames.com, you can play from there as well.

Side note, you can also play this through kongregate, if you prefer. I think they both link to the same servers, so it should be fine on either end. I might jump back in sometime.

Well, THAT would explain why when I played on ArmorGames it gave me the username quinnr_1. Must've played a different game of theirs before.

Yeah, a while ago there was another topic about that, and as a result it made getting invited to the guild back then a gigantic hassle. That thread has been long dead however. But yeah, if you're playing this off of edgebee, be aware of what your username is.  :P

I can say that the limit is VERY generous, and unless you just love the game to death you'll prolly not even finish most of the time you have a day. At least I didn't.

As Seriyu says, it is very rarely an issue unless you decide in the options to speed the game way up. I really haven't had an issue with it except a couple times, at which I went to something else and came back 10 minutes later to continue.

Oh man, you can speed up the game? This changes everything.

Ahaha, I know how you feel. I was thinking it was going to be way too slow, and then I opened the options menu.

The game is played best at around 2x, although it goes all the way up to 3x speed. I find at that fast I waste time to get new projects started and some people may leave though, so I put it a little lower.

Seems like a good timekiller.

If you want to create a guild, I'll happily join!

I already made one. Apparently there used to be a fee to be in a guild, but it was removed a while ago, so some of the advice in the old thread on this forum doesn't apply as much. If your name is the same as here, I'll add you when I log on in the morning!

Played this for a while, got fairly far then got bored. Too many options that would make it easier by spending money (especially early on) but it gets easier after you get all four craftsmen.

Edit: Logging in to my Kongregate shows that my level 47 is still active, and things have changed a little bit. Might pick it up for a time waster here and there. Name's AstralVoid on Kongregate, not sure if it's the same in S&P, though.

A ton of the real money stuff seems crazy overpriced to me..it's worth noting though that a lot of it can be worked around. VERY rarely people will come around offering recipes for gold. These include the ones that cost tokens to unlock. You can win the premium mats from the daily lottery (I think), or people who sell materials (rarely). Sure, it's not the best, but I haven't had any issue with not paying yet. I just selectively not see the stuff labeled 'GIMME TOKENS'.
