Had a playtest of the Physical version of the game yesterday. Went quite well, and I'm making a few changes to the game because of it. Since we're still early on and these changes won't effect anything people have done so far, I'm including them here.

This is what is changing:

Actions:
Festival of Lights – 1 Player only. Pay up to 5 Goods to gain that much Respect. Winter.

Buildings:
Building    Effect    Cost
Wooden PalisadeYou suffer no Wounds on ties with Raiders, but they still plunder. Gain 1 Respect4 Wood
Signal TowerRequires Watchtower. You may reroll 1 Raider Die.2 Stone
Stone WallsYou win on ties with Raiders. Replaces Wooden Palisade if you have one. Worth 2 Respect.8 Stone
GranaryReduces food Rot to 25% (0% with Cellars)3 Wood
CellarsReduces food Rot to 25% (0% with Granary)3 Stone
Healing HallYour populations are not weakened after a Victorious combat where they rolled <= the Raiders.4 Wood, 2 Goods
StablesYour Warriors engage Raiders before anyone Clansmen get to Roll. If multiple player have Warriors with Stables, they go at the same time.2 Wood, 2 Goods

Johnfalcon99977, you're up.

I sent John a PM this morning, so hopefully he'll take his turn soon.

In the meantime, anyone have any questions about the game? Thoughts? Concerns?

Hmm...you've made a physical copy of this game, right? If you did, does that mean your planning to sell this?

Eventually, yeah, I'd like to see it published. Either through a traditional publisher or maybe a Kickstarter. Need a ton of testing and tweaking first, though.

Ok, I'm going to officially say that JohnFalcon is MIA on this game. He's been posting all over the forums but hasn't even bothered to reply to my PM. So he obviously isn't really interested in playing.

Dariush, you're in as his replacement.

You need to decide where your initial population is going to go (You're in spot 1), and you need to decide what type of population you want to show up in Summer from the Call for Kin Action. You also have your 2 regular actions to decide on. Remember that you only play 1 action at a time.

Gifts – Pay 1 Goods, Gain 1 Respect.
1) Is it availible any season? It isn't specified.

Quote
Call for Kin – 1 Player only. Declare which type of population you are calling for. Gain that population in Summer during phase 3. Spring.
2) What is Phase 3 and how much population of that type is gained?

3) Are buildings global or local to tiles?

4) How is trade with homeland accomplished? Do resources simply teleport to/from your storage?

5)
Quote
Each player starts with 2 Standard Actions and 1 Special Action.

Standard Actions are the primary way that you interact with the game. Each Standard Action can be used to perform one of the regular Actions each season. In general, you can only use each regular Action once per season. You gain an additional Standard Action for every 3 Population you have. (So, 3 at six population and 4 at nine population).
I'm fairly sure 2+(6/3)!=3. Similarly 2+(9/3)!=4. Check this part please.

6) Are Tales directly equivalent to the cards from the Book of Tales?

7) Should we PM cards we want to use or post in thread?

8) How does Raid track work?

9) Why is the board flipped sideways?

10) I would like to change my color to blue, if possible. And PMing the details like cards would be nice.

11) What are black and white hexes on the map?

12) Can we do two identical actions in the same turn?

Phew, I think that's all.

Gifts is Winter only. I'll update it to specify that.

2) What is Phase 3 and how much population of that type is gained?

The Season is broken up into phases. I just noticed I didn't number them, so here they are numbered:

Season Overview:
  1) Draw and resolve Event (ignore 1st Spring)
  2) Move Raiders & Raid if necessary
  3) Gain new populations if necessary
  4) Actions (Players will play 1 Action at a time in order until no more actions can be played)
  5) Harvest
  6) Restore Weakened populations
  7) Feed Population
  8) Check for Shelter. Food Rots. (Winter only)

Gain new populations is bolded. So you'll gain the new population in Summer after any events/raids have occurred but before you perform any actions.

You gain a single population of the type that you specify.

Quote
3) Are buildings global or local to tiles?

Depends on the building. Houses, Fences, and Halls are tile specific. The rest of the buildings are global for your settlement (but not the other players).

Quote
4) How is trade with homeland accomplished? Do resources simply teleport to/from your storage?

Yeah, it's pretty much instantaneous. You do have an entire season for the wagons to get there and back.

The actual formula is 1+(pop/3 round down). So 6/3 = 2, + 1 = 3.

I agree that it's poorly worded. I'll update it.

Quote
6) Are Tales directly equivalent to the cards from the Book of Tales?

Correct.

Quote
7) Should we PM cards we want to use or post in thread?

No, the use of cards is always public knowledge.

Quote
8) How does Raid track work?

Basically, it goes from 1-5. When it reaches 5 the Raiders attack, and it is reset back to 1. If nothing changes it, they will attack every Spring.

Quote
10) I would like to change my color to blue, if possible. And PMing the details like cards would be nice.

Sure. And, yeah, I'll PM you your cards.

Quote
11) What are black and white hexes on the map?

Those are Unexplored tiles.

Quote
12) Can we do two identical actions in the same turn?

No, unless you have a Tales card that lets you do otherwise you may only play a given action once per Season.

Quote
Phew, I think that's all.

Useful questions! This kind of thing really helps me firm up the rules. And hopefully I caught any of your edits. Let me know if I missed something.

Between each Unexplored Tile? Well, when you Explore a tile it will be revealed as one of the Terrain Types. For example, micelus explored a tile and discovered that it was a Forest Tile. (Which reminds me, I need to post the updated map tonight. Although I'm holding off until I have your initial population placements in)

9) Why is the board flipped sideways?

No particularly good reason. It was just easier for me to work on that way on my monitor. I should probably flip it back when I present it to you guys.

No, between black and white ones.

Here you go:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'll place the people as shown, Call for laborers, Hunt and Explore the marked tile.

Also, I think there's a real shortage of actions related to getting more resources.

Ah, ok. Think of the black areas as the Table we're playing the game on. They're nothing. I can put down more tiles if we need them.

Noted. I'll get the map updated with your locations tonight.

You get a single action at a time. Do you want to Hunt first or Explore first?

That is correct. Getting resources is difficult and time-consuming, so your only options are to have laborers work for them or to trade for them.
