Channeling a river to the Ocean w/out leaving ramps

Got an evil ocean start, with a small river terminating in several branches; only one of which actually connects to the ocean.  Being fairly new(v.31) and also having lost my comp until now (wtf wheelbarrels?)  The ocean has no upramps, and I am unsure how finish the delta without upramps.  Can anything climb out of the ocean w/out ramps bordering the water?

Sorry I cannot be of more help other than telling you about dfhack's "deramp" command. Use d-z to designate the ramps then run the command and you are ramp-free.

did some thinking and decided that the best option is making the channels, channeling one tile on the far side of the map, and having that sucker miner get flushed out to sea... hopefully he'll make use of his novice swim skill and not end up as squid chow...

Nice! You could have made some side channels before finishing it though.
