This game is basically born out of my attempt to have a few friends test an RTD in which the rules were changable from within the game. It began with them replacing the RTD aspects with a statbased system.


4 Players chosen randomly once the game begins.

It was a dark night. - as nights usually are with no sun around.
It was also a stormy night. - if it wasn't it would be a boring night, not noteworthy for this story and no wizard whose experiments utilize Lightning would do these experiments in such a night.
This Wizard even got funding for his experiment by a warlord named Chub Dogie the 3rd - which isn't important at all for this story.
The goal for the experiment was to create souls. Normally a summoner must draw a soul from a different plane and bind it to his or her mind - a difficult task, as the soul, forcibly drawn from it's body into a new shape, remembers it's old shape and tries to get back to it.
The other thing the wizard got from the warlord was a deadline. Which was near. Which made the wizard nervous.
Nervous wizards are bad for their surroundings.
"Sir, we don't have enough space for the experiment in the castle - it has to be executed outside."
"Nonsense, we have a perfectly usable celar room for that."
"but the experiments of the previous wizards are locked in there! And they have teeth!"
"Get a few aprentices and clean them out! and stop those Buts! now get to work!"
"But..."
"Ok, one less Aprentice to worry about. Mr. Stobbins, clean up the remains, and while you are at it the cellar, too."
"Of course, sir."
The sphere of raw magic - sustained by the constant channeling of a dozen aprentices - was an impressive sight. It painted the nearby moss and lichen overgrown walls in astonishing coloures, like greenish red and blueish orange. Also: it actually was a glome.
"Stobbins, what is the reading on the thaumometer?"
"Around 900 billion thaum per in⁴ . I assume it will stop at 1 Trillion."
"Why would it stop there?"
"Because it's a nice number."
"Right. anyway - when did the oracle say the lightningstrike would happen?"
"His exact answer was '7 minutes after the wizard asks for the last tiiiiiii aaargh the pain!!!' - he then fell unconscious."
"So is the ectoplasm ready?"
"i have given the order to inject it into the glome 3 minutes ago, after all it takes it 10 minutes to reach the sphere, as the density of Thaumic particles causes quite a lot of time dilation."
"What would the effect of a head sized object hitting the glome be at this stage?"
"It would probably blow up the castle. Why do you ask?"
"Because there is a glob of lichen floating on top of the sphere. I think we should leave Mr. Stobbins, don't you agree? ... Mr. Stobbins?"
The wizard almost made it out of the castle before a wave of hurting green ripped half of the city to shreds and distorted nearby dimensions a little.
The populace was not amused.

You are a part of a gigantic blob of green matter. You feel like you need to escape. You need to differenciate yourself from it. Maybe a name would be helpful.

The game mechanics ((based on the disgaea stat system)):

Your Character's statistics can be easily divided into 8 base stats:
HP  - Hitpoint; 0 means it's dead
SP  - Spell/skillpoints required to use special actions
ATK - Physical attack power
DEF - Physical resistance
INT - Magical attack power
WIS - Magical resistance and certain skills
HIT - Chance to hit
SPD - Chance to dodge and speed of actions

Equipment changes your total stats and can add skills, as an example you were given an item:  "cloth shroud of life" -  it's stats are as following:

WIS - 2
SPD + 2

As you level up you will get a little less than 50% Bonus to your base stats for each level.

Traits modify the rules during combat or give you more options while traveling the world.
You start with the following Traits:

Gelatinous: Your actual HP is your Max HP. Crushing damage against you is halved.

Photosynthesis: Being in direct sunlight heals you by 3 HP and 1 SP each turn.

Amorphous: You can squeeze through tiny crevices.

Humanoid: you have the power of opposing thumbs! Allows you to equip human weapons.

Abilities can be used by you during your travels or in battles.

You start with the following ability:

Absorb: 2 SP - ATK/INT/HIT; You absorb matter and make it part of your body, increasing your health. You gain properties and abilities related to the material or species of the enemy. This will change your base stats and can cause mutation. Absorbing too much will cause your body to become unstable.


Abilities can not miss, but get a damagemodifier related to how well you hit.
the formula is ATTHIT/DEFSPD - they are capped at
 >1.5 - +50% Damage - Weakpoint
 <0.5 - -50% Damage - Graze

AMOD * OFFENSE / 3  - DMOD * DEFENSE / 3

Damage can't be less than zero.

AMOD and DMOD are 100% + bonuses/penalties. the exact wording of the traits/skills is important here.
Spells use INT - they are defended against by 25% DEF and 75% WIS
weaponless attacks use ATK
Bows use 50% HIT 50% ATK or TRUNCATE((ATK+HIT)/2)

TURN 0

You find yourself in a circular crater. The remnants of the stone wall that once limited this room of the cellar can be seen around you embeded deep within the surrounding dirt.
There are green crystals growing out of the ground near the middle of the room, where the blob of biomass lies from which you were born.
To the north is a steep slope that leads outside.
Debris of a castle can be seen floating above you in the sky. The stairs to it's cellar entrance, also floating in midair, can be seen to the west.
In the east lies a bent copper grate. You think you can squeeze through.
Everything around is tinged in a green glow.
The Air is crackling with thaumic radiation.

((you can still re-roll or trade stats with other players if you are unhappy with them - but you have to do so before you take actions.))

I became aware of myself. I was no longer a fraction of something. I WAS something. I looked around me. Other fellow blobs were around. One of them even communicate. The notion of communication reminded me of the need for a name. I thought, and one name came to me. Imanel. Good enough I thought. I looked at the other blobs and simply replied,
All I know is that I was but a fraction, and now I'm a whole being.
My mind could not recall anything else. It was like if my whole self had been created right then.
