Tropico. You're still technically buuilding something. Also +1 to treating them like dwarfs.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

So it's looking like Tropico might be the game, so what I'm thinking is that to fit in with the dwarf theme I'll base the economy around mining and metal working.

To this end I'll make the map large with next to no plant life but plenty of minerals.
Also it's going to be a military dictatorship, just because.

Ok, after 3 failed attempts that all ended in disaster, I think I've finally got a game going that will last a while... maybe.

For those of you who are wondering, the disasters are in order: military coup, economic collapse, and a hurricane followed shortly by another military coup... and then the economy collapsed again.

Yeah... that last one got kind of interesting.

Needs more mining

I'll see if I can find some good ore deposits, probably be a good way to supplement my income.

Oh and I didn't mention it earlier, but my ultimate goal is to make as much money as I can before my people get fed up with me.

For the country, or yourself? I assume yourself, to which I approve.

Interesting choice of sugar production. It's hard to get a good map for it(except after a tropical storm/hurricane, in which sugar is really good all over the place for a while), and unprocessed sugar(ie, not rum) sell for less than unprocessed coffee and tobacco.

I agree for mining as well. Gold is worth a lot if you've got it.

Any bets on how you get kicked from office? Losing elections, rebel attack, coup de'tat, popular uprisings, US invasion, Soviet invasion(which you actually have to try for)?
Personally, I find popular uprisings funny. Nothing says you pissed people off half the country bum-rushing the palace to kick your ass.

... Yes, the hugs are for everyone.  No stabbing, though.  Just hugs.

Of course, the second things go south I plan to transfer all the money into my Swiss bank account and high tail it out of there. Let's see those ungrateful bastards try to maintain all the nice things I've given them with no money.

Well, I had to do things in a dwarfy way, which means digging and alcohol.
And for alcohol I needed sugar.

Hmm, won't be elections, I don't allow those... I think I'll put my money on popular uprising, since it's just a matter of time before banning elections comes back to bite me in the ass.

In other news part two is up.

The settlement on the other side of the island should be like elves as opposed to the dwarves on the west side. I've never played Tropico so idk to what extent you could do this, but definitely no tree-cutting.

Having a split settlement is hard, as quite a lot of things(like money and laws) are automatically shared. You could do it, but it mostly will be RP.

I'm sure I could come up with something.

Next part is up.
http://killerpelicangames.blogspot.com/2012/08/lets-play-tropico-finale.html

Yes, it's really over. Sad I know, but it's time to move on and pick another game.

But what shall it be?

Spoilers, Don't Read Until after you've read the update!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Edit: Just thought I'd point out that yes, you will be allowed to chose the next game like last time.
Oh, and I'm going through my collection right now. Hopefully I can find some nice obscure games for you to chose from.

Edit 2, Edit to the extreme:

Ok, I've once again narrowed it down to three choices, none of them involve building as I'd rather not burn myself out on them.  Two of the games are from the previous choice time. Genforge Saga and Space Rangers 2

The new game is:

The Temple of Elemental Evil (Ready to roll up some characters?)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Triple Edit: No votes? Well in that case I'll chose for you!

And it is... The Temple of Elemental Evil, because I consider it to have the best potential for audience participation.

Also I'm going to lock this topic and start a new one, I'm tired of not having polls and this one's become something of a bloated mess.
