Well demigod is the best starting spec, but I personally put my stats into kinesthetic sense, spatial sense and agility for the most part, and then a little bit into strength. I like punching bunnies through the air.

As for the best weapon, I would say, outside of throwing anyway, axes. They're very versatile, and if you can find a steel one you're pretty much set for anything. You can slash with it, and I believe you can stab with a halberd, and since they're pretty big, they make reasonably good blunt weapons with slapping too.

As for companions, it depends what you're going after as DavionFuxa said. For example, if you're going after anything with undead, DO NOT take anybody with an edged weapon (swords, axes etc.) because you'll just end up making things so much harder.
