How about we just use this:
Quote from: Wikipedia - Home of all knowledge
Sikhs are expected to embody the qualities of a "Sant-Sipāhī"—a saint-soldier. One must have control over one's internal vices... A Sikh must also have the courage to defend the rights of all who are wrongfully oppressed or persecuted irrespective of religion, colour, caste or creed.
As long as I stay away from the specifics and stick to this basic idea I think no one will get offended. Maybe change the name to Space-Sikh just for good measure. I am assuming that the reason people have jumped on this idea is because of that aspect (stands out most to me anyway).

I think you'll still need the five K's:
Kesh – uncut hair (under a turban
Kangha - a wooden comb
Kara - a metal bracelet
Kachera – a specific style of cotton undergarments
Kirpan – a strapped curved sword

Awwww...Just Devout in general then?
I'm not sure if you can even be devout in general.
Yeah, that'd be nigh impossible.

Dune was Zensunni, I believe. Also, SPACE JEWS, but I didn't get that far into the series.

Anyway: BBC overview of sikhism, TvTropes Useful Notes, Sihk intro, and Sikhiwiki.

I readily admit to ignorance, being a Christian minister and a Discordian pope, but didn't take long to google and it sounds pretty legit.

I know, but I want sikhs, dammit.

Did we kill this by making him research Sikhism?

No, I enjoy learning about this kind of stuff.

I think you'll still need the five K's:
Kesh – uncut hair (under a turban
Kangha - a wooden comb
Kara - a metal bracelet
Kachera – a specific style of cotton undergarments

I totally forgot to mention that. I was going to give you ther five Ks since they are a pretty neat idea from the adventure point of view. Although i'm not sure how often the cotten underwear would come up in this sort of context.

So yes I'll give you Zensikhism but i'd really like to sstay away from the nitty gritty since as you can imagine when I posted this I wasn't thinking "This will be a great way to learn about the details of Skhism".

There is one problem though. I know in Build A Colony everyone liked the idea of genetic engineering and cloning. I'm not sure if the equal rights aspects of Skhism would affect that. There is an easy solution to this though: Robot Minions. As long as they are just sofisticated programs and not actual AIs I'm sure that would fine.

I think it's a +6 (I'm going to asume everyone in the quote pyramid was for it) for our pal Jaskirat Singh Dhaliwal so it looks like I'll be using that suggestion. I'm going to draw up some resources and things now but I won't post the first update for a few hours(three at the earliest) so if there is a landslide vote for another suggestion I'll go with that.

Wait, we have one character overall and not one character per player? Damn, if I knew I would've thrown my vote there too.

Oops. Looks like I lied when I said I'd update. I got a bit sidetracked with some real life stuff so unfortunately I forgot to.

I vote in whatever way makes it most likely my clone ideas that never got tested in the previous thread will make it in this one.

Turn 1:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ah, of course, you're Jaskirat Singh Dhaliwal: Professional Surveyor-Architect.
You are a devout Sikh and are very serious about your job. This combined with your calm personality was what led you to become the unofficial leader after the Captain died(although the fact that you were going to be in charge of the ground operations anyway probably helped). You sure do miss Captain Patterson. The captain volunteered to stay behind and keep imperial enforcers away from the launch pads long enough for you and the rest of the crew to escape in this stolen cargo cruiser. He could be dead now, but it's more likely that he's just been arrested. Incidentally you, the pilot and the navigation officer are the only surviving original crew members. Of course you aren't the only ones on the ship.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
There are also these guys. You found twelve science clones in suspended animation in the hold. You only unfroze four of them though since this ship wasn't meant to have a large crew in the first place. You've been trying to treat them as equals as per your values but they have been bred to serve so they haven't adjusted yet. You are currently in the room which contains the computer mainframe with three of the clones. You asked them to rig up a hologram of the planet below. To be honest the view from the window is a lot better though. They'll be happy to develop anything you need as long as they get fed and have comfortable beds.

The Navigation officer, Pilot and the other clone are down in the cargo bay waiting for a confirmation on where to drop the teleport station. Oh right, you've been so busy talking to yourself you forgot to give them the go ahead.

You give them your chosen position:

The ship moves around as the station is fired onto the planet and the inertial dampeners kick in.

The Navigation Officer Kieren calls you over the intercom:
Kieren: "The station will be operational in a few minutes Jaskirat."
Jaskirat: "Alright, I'll get the combat robots together and we'll secure the landing site as soon as possible."

You head down to the teleporter room and assemble the combat bots.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

After inspecting the robots you get the go ahead from Kesley and fire up the teleporter.

Lets get a house built slightly to the left of the teleporter, with a ladder to the roof so that we can open fire on hostiles from an advantageous position.
