Shared world with real (player made) history
« on: July 14, 2012, 08:56:09 am »

Just in case this hasn't been suggested before, I'd like to chuck this out as an idea. It's a kind of succession game, but not quite the same.

The idea is that one person generates a world (perhaps we can agree on the params first), and creates a fort. He plays until his fort crumbles, or he abandons. After that, the world is uploaded somewhere and is passed to the next player.

He can either create his own fort, or an adventurer. When he's done, he uploads the new save.

We keep going, creating a world filled with momuments to our own actions. And of course anyone can download the save at any point, to explore all the forts in the world, even if they aren't taking part in the succession.

Would this work?

Other things to think about:
Should there be a limit on the time each player can have? In-game years, or real life days?
Should reclaiming other people's forts be allowed?
Any other issues?

It's being done.

Very slowly.

Awesome :) Could a mod delete this thread in that case, please?
