I must make a note to buy some cats from traders at the next opportunity and see if I can chain up a breeding pair someplace clean. Having kittens wandering the hallways will be a good way of identifying patches of paralytic poison that still need to be taken care of.

Yeah, I am, I was just working on my podcast yesterday, then I went to some memorial services today, so I forgot to update.

Not a lot to report, mostly just reorganizing the military and cleaning stuff up.

For melee, would hammers, axes, or spears be the best? Imma make one civvie squad of one weapon type, and one squad of irregulars.

Why not both?

What are the rules for more than one weapon, anyway? I know they can't dual-wield, but which weapon will they use first?

I dont have any rules set down for weapons, unless you mean in game feature rules, in which case a dwarf will pick up the weapon they are most proficient in, and if you have them set to pick up more than one weapon, they will grab another and stash it in their backpack if they have one.

I dont have any rules set down for weapons, unless you mean in game feature rules, in which case a dwarf will pick up the weapon they are most proficient in, and if you have them set to pick up more than one weapon, they will grab another and stash it in their backpack if they have one.

dwarves should use golbin parts as weapons. beating a goblin half to death would be a great way to get the message that they aren't welcome in these parts across.

I believe axes and silver warhammers are the "best" melee weapons assuming you are training an army from scratch. Otherwise I'd stick with whatever the dwarves are already trained in to save time.
Edit: Lead warhammers are even better, but you can't get those normally, only through strange moods.

Yay!!! Now to finish reading up on everything that's happened so far... So I'm not COMPLETELY clueless... haha.

Just to be sure, this is normal vanilla DF right? no mods I need to download?
