Well, I think I'll try a turn. Beware: I'm not particularly good at DF. My account will mainly be about me not magma-flooding the fortress too badly.

something I just noticed in gulfs turn is the line "tombs for EVERYONE!" kinda reminds me... what does it remind me of again? hm... maybe it was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR2FYemIokE

anyways, im gonna throw that line of gulfs in the OP.

I only realize now, that christmas is upon us. I also recall that most succession games tend to slow down to more than a crawl during the weeks before and after christmas.

Yeah, at one point I made a 1 wide tunnel up to the corner, or at least designated it and mined some. Not sure if it ever got finished or if someone blocked it up. I had planned to have one for each migrant entrance so we could lose (cough let sieges in cough) fewer migrants. :P

When my turn comes, I'll do my best to make migrant entrances, as well as some murder machines (Namely, drowning chambers that activate on command :D) to keep out sieges. The only problem then would be the swimming things, which could be handled by straining them out and sending in our oh-so-mighty military. Unless it's really dangerous, then I'll set up another switch to drain creatures too. But don't worry, people. Knowing me, The migrant entrances will quickly become permanently drowning traps due to the fact that I forgot the grates.

yes. if you can figure it out. im not sure, but we've been using a setup set up for us by valrandir. this setup bypasses a few... *cough* RAW hiccups I included in my original raws when I started the succession. itll prolly be no problem to install a new tileset though.

New tileset should be fine, I think Valrandir's setup should allow different tilesets. If an issue comes up, just go back, cause fixing the issues by hand is a little bit...frustrating.

Sorry about the wait, DFFD seems to be going down a lot lately.

Of those traders that all went simultaneously insane, only four survived. On the plus side, the only ones who did survive were military dwarves, so we get all of the stuff from the caravan! We now how more weapons then dwarves, so we should be all set for a massive military fort.

Every dwarf currently has a tomb, but future overseers will need to ensure that migrants are assigned their own, as the unused tombs are not set to be allowed for burial. There are unclaimed grand tombs for future overseers to use for themselves or for any dwarves that display truly heroic efforts.
