I think the reason people are getting upset is the reasoning for hitting this guy in particular. He's doing a poor marketing campaign for Wal-Mart for whatever's sake, and hitting him with a practical joke could be interpreted as kicking him when he's down. "Let's make fun of this failure," and etc.

While I do detect some mockery here, I don't see it as completely malicious either, so whatever~

Oh, and if anyone's curious where Kodiak, Alaska is.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

It's the middle of nowhere.

Better than the middle of everywhere.  Seriously though, Alaska's a pretty nice lookin place.  And he's only going to be there for a day.  It's not like Walmart is exiling Pitbull to Kodiak, Alaska.

And cold.

Predicted weather for July 15th
56° F high

46° F low

And bears.

Nonsense.  There's no such thing as bears.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

But Alaska is among the best parts of USA ???

I would certainly like to go there. Flying in an old Cessna to get to some awesome fishing spot dozens of miles away from the nearest house is my idea of a perfect holiday.

Think of it as an all-expense paid trip.  He can even go sight seeing and maybe bearsasquatch hunting.

I'm only really disturbed about it because I pretty much live in a fantasy world (...under a rock). I was certainly being a bit too dramatic about it, though -- "depressed" was a very poor choice of words (hey, it was 3:00am and I was tired and oversensitive). I'm not exactly sobbing in my pillow over this -- more mildly-unsettled. And even that's more a demonstration of how naïve I am than anything else...

@kaijyuu:

I personally interpreted it is 'hey, Wal-Mart sucks and Bullpig sucks, so this is totally not a petty waste of everyone's time and we should totally do it'. nvm, didn't quite get the context of your statement the first time

Nicely done goons in this instance. Nothing wrong with some internet fun.

Just hope Pitbull doesn't build backwards walls around the mines up there and trap your fighter characters.

Svarte Troner, since you're here, there's something I've been meaning to ask you...  Why is your name "Black Thrones"?

I listen to a Norwegian black metal band called Burzum. One of his songs is called Svarte Troner. The song itself isn't much more than ambient noise, but I thought it sounded "grim" and "necro" when I was about 15.  8)

Maybe it is just my prejudices speaking but I don't think the people of Kodiak, Alaska listen to much rap :p

You'd be eaten by bears. Or freeze to death. Or crash your plane and die beyond the boarders of human civilization.

Trust me, you do not want to go to Alaska.

You obviously aren't well-acquainted with how insanely tough 90-year-old grandparents are.

But bears shouldn't be a problem.  As has been mentioned, they have bear repellent at that Walmart.  And antifreeze, I'm sure.  They probably even have Crash-Your-Plane-and-Die-Beyond-the-Boarders(?)-of-Human-Civilization-AWAY! in those handy little spraybottles.
