Now, I dunno about you, but importing a few libraries to develop on another system is a hell of a lot easier than, say, making an entirely new build of the game for free-to-play. PC has no licence costs. Mobile markets have no licence costs. Even console licence costs would probably be lower than the cost of, say, making an entirely new build of the game for free-to-play. And those would all have larger markets than this hipster-machine.
There's a current model of giving people the entire game, but locking all but the first bit of it until they purchase it. I think they're mostly supporting that here.

If the controller is a touchpad, then why hook it up to a TV at all?

Might /just/ be a touch pad, like a mouse pad for a laptop.

So you can play touchpad games on your tv...

It wouldn't be too hard to provide visual feedback on your fingers relative position on a tv though.  But yes, I agree, it doesn't make sense.

Touchpad as in a mouse pad doesn't make much sense, since it's a relative position tool.  Of course, that just brings up the fact that you're going to be upscaling movement when you go from the controller to the tv.

Wii 2 might work because controller also has monitor.

I think this would put this console far above the 99$ price point but without a second display absolute position is useless.

Relative input wouldn't work (just try dosbox on your tablet)

Touch pads aren't great for accuracy as it is. I wonder how they'll combat this, when scaling the movements from the touch pad on the controller to the tv screen?

Hmm, at first I was quite interested, but then I found that it is based on Android. I have an Android tablet, and there really aren't many 'WOW' games that I've been able to find on it so far, besides Dungeon Defenders. They just all seem to be made for little bitty phones.

If this thing grows in popularity and has a good amount of people developing for it, I'd be interested though.

I actually didn't have issues with their mouse. I find it easier than finding out what part of my pudgy finger will set it off first.

This thing doesn't seem to offer anything justifying spending 99 dawlers amerikun, most of what it accomplishes is done as well or better on a computer.

I can sorta see them thinking that it has the aspect of being cheaper than a computer- but then, who knows about this that doesn't already have a computer?

Uh, what.

1GB RAM isn't enough for any even remotely modern game.
8GB of storage isn't enough for more than two 'big' (i.e. non-indie) games released in the last ~10 years.
The cheapest quad-core processor alone costs more than this entire console.

I smell bullshit on this whole setup. PC gaming master race.

I fail to see the point of this machine. If I wanted to play phone games... I would take out my phone.
