Not all in one, obviously

Long story short, my current not-expensive headphones and mouse are in the process of shitting the bed, so I'm looking to replace them. I'm willing to dish out a bit of coin for something good, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Quite frankly, I trust the experience of flesh and blood people I'm within one degree of separation with than any number of reviews and consumer reports, so I thought I'd start by asking what equipment you nice folks use.

To elaborate, I'm using a laptop (if that makes a difference, though I hope to upgrade to a new desktop inside a year.) I don't play much in the way of MMOs or similarly... interface intensive games, so I don't need a mouse with a lot of extra buttons and fancy doodads. I do play my fair share of shooters so it needs to be accurate, fast, and responsive. I use my headphones extensively every day since I still live at home (though that may change in the near future) so I need something comfortable, quality, and ideally durable. I do not and never have owned a mic (re: living at home,) so I don't know whether I want a headphone/mic thingy or if they should be separate. Durability is a big plus for me across all categories, since I hate shopping.

So! What do you people use? What do you want to use? What would you advise me to use, given my activities?

Turtle Beach makes good gaming headsets. I use the X11, but the X12 is about the same.
Decent price for headphones and mic of pretty good quality (that is, the X11/X12). Helps you hear things that are important in (mostly FPS) games, like footsteps and gunshot direction.
I haven't had any problems with durability; had them for over a year now and no problems, but a friend had his break in under a year. Don't step on them or sit on them and they should be okay, but the wire connection can sometimes be an issue.
They're comfortable, as long as your head and ears aren't too large.
They block out some noise, but you can still clearly hear people talking to you and similar. Also big on bass; the X12 has a bass boost dial, too, so you don't have to keep it or can max it out, to personal preference.
Kind of bulky, and don't swivel or anything, so they won't compact. Really long cord. Also comes with a cable that lets you hook up to the Red/White input to a TV (for use with consoles, mostly).

Excellent purchase if you really like FPS games - well worth the money. Otherwise, they're pretty decent.
If you want some cheaper, generic headphones, I'm sure someone else will help you there. My X11 is the cheapest pair of headphones I own.
Sennheiser makes a wide variety of stuff, all pretty good quality for the price (I've heard). That might be a good place to look.

What headphones have you been using, and what kind are you looking for?
Sorry I can't be much help with a mouse. I just use whatever I can find there.

I use a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse; I think it's the X5 (cousin gave me his old one) but get the X7; it's pretty much the same, except it has an LCD screen for some reason and the scroll wheel and thumb buttons are metal instead of rubber (the rubber starting to peel off the scroll wheel is why my cousin gave it away.) They have on-the-fly adjustable DPI (200, 500 and 2000; I leave mine on 2000, people freak out when they try to use my laptop), two thumb buttons and a weird button that sits under the centre of your palm, is really hard to actually press and I think is designed to be bound to spin you 180 degrees in a shooter. You will need to install drivers to make the mouse work, but that's not an issue in most cases.

I've not had a huge amount of experience with gaming mice, but this is the best mouse I've used.

I just got a Razer Death Adder not too long ago. I don't even really enjoy it for the insanely high DPI it can use.

More I love it because the surface of it seems impervious to crap building up on it. I've you've got sweaty hands and/or oily skin, your mouse gets crudded up super fast because stuff builds up in layers on top of the plastic. I don't know what this Death Adder is covered in, the souls of children or something, but it has the same texture on it as the day I bought it. And I can't say that for any mouse I've ever owned.

Also it has a pretty blue light.

I am currently using, and am very pleased with the following peripherals.

Headset/Mic:
Logitech G930
+7.1 Surround Sound.
+Excellent, clear mic.
+Cordless. And with some good range. (Can be used while plugged in and charging though.)
+Volume Control, Mic Mute and three programmable buttons on the side of the headset.
-Annoying autoshutoff to save battery time, basically if no sound is detected for 10 minutes it shuts off. Even when plugged in which makes no sense.

Mouse:
Razer Mamba
+Feels great in my hand.
+Not too light, not too heavy.
+5600dpi, while it takes a while to get used to, I will never be able to use anything less again without complaining :p
+Buttons only on the left side of the mouse, for me atleast this is perfect since I used to have em on both sides and constantly pressed the wrong side by accident when trying to press the other side.
+Cordless if you want it to be, I have not bothered since I don't want to run out of juice in the middle of a SC2 game.
-Some people have had issues with the scroll wheel breaking and starting to squeak, I have not but it is apparently quite common, atleast for the earlier batches.

Keyboard:
Logitech G19
+Programmable macro buttons.
+Programmable LCD Display. Mine has bugged out recently though and will constantly switch back and forth between the clock and the display I want it to have so I have just stuck it on the clock. This could probably be easily fixed with a software reinstall but meh.
+Buttons have a bit heavier resistance, I hate keyboards that you just blow at to press a button.
+Choose your own colour! Mine has a nice magenta glow

I use those, they are great and have a unbeatable value. I don't have a link to it, but another company buys them, slaps a different label on them and sells them for 60 a piece. And I believe shipping is free. If you wanted a combo, it wouldn't work but you could try a clip on mic they work about as well. I have a Logitech G500 and love it, fits my hand perfectly but thats something that varies for everyone. And it has weights if you like a heavier feel. They have other decent ones too, mx518 I believe, and the Razer deathadder was nice when I had it but imo the logitech is better. It has very adjustable software and the DPI range is 5600 I think, swapable on the fly.

I have a pair of $30 Sony earbuds from Best Buy, with a mic integrated into the little iPod volume control thing. I expected the mic to be shit, but it actually works surprisingly well even though it's just dangling on the wire. Sound quality is good but I imagine you might lose some of the 3D/Surround sound information you want in a shooter.

I don't have any headphones, that's next months purchase after spending a shit ton on a new PC this month.

I've personally got a Razer Naga and a Razer Lycosa. I love both of them. I think its best to spend a fair whack on these as they'll last for a lot longer (in theory).
