Did you manage to check the cats before they died? Are there any combat reports? (use r to check combat reports)

No, I dont know anything is wrong until I get an announcement that so and so or such and such has bled to death, or been found dead (with a pool of blood underneath). I have had the chance to inspect the dead thing to see if there is anything on it but there never is. There are no corresponding combat reports to go along with the deaths.

Meanwhile life continues like nothing is wrong. Just lots of dwarfs putting lots of items in lots of bins ever since I found out why the for has so much clothing around.

Try preemptive actions then: check ALL of the fort's cats and kittens now. Specifically, check their inventories for spatters and coverings.

Is there an easy way to do that? Like some sort of 3rd party program? There are 123 of them.

A bunny is covered in goblin blood of all things... Did this bunny belong to Monty Python?

I just hit the V key and did a cursory check of everything in the fort itself. Other then the very bloody bunny and some goblin blood on things nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm at a loss, and kittens keep dieing.

The test subject dog is still running around.

I'm going to bed, I will check more after work tomorrow.

Have you used dfhack or similar tools to create or destroy magma at anytime in the fort's history?

is there something wrong with the raws? I'm certainly no expert on this sorta thing, but it seems possible that you accidentally bucked up the raws somehow.

No DF Hack and no raws modifications.

I am commencing operation Kitty Quarantine today and pitting all the cats in the danger room for inspection. Since it seems to mostly infect the cats in the fort.

*edit*

I thought this was going to take a while, but out of the 30 to 50 cats... only two are left. The rest are dead. This appears to have been going on for a while and I only just noticed.

Would explain my FPS improvements.

Wait. Lemme see if I got this right. OP's cats are dying and he think it's bad?

Nope. OP's cats are dying and he doesn't want his dwarves catching the same disease.

Cage and magma-dump all your cats. Quarantine everything. Go on full lockdown. Wait. Pray.

Nope. OP's cats are dying and he doesn't want his dwarves catching the same disease.

Its already spread to some other animals (like that one poor quail I watched die very suddenly, its like it exploded into a pool of blood) and maybe two dwarfs. But nothing else has died since my cat population dropped down to two cats.

I only say two dwarfs may have died because I had two MASSIVE streaks of blood in the fort that carried the name of a dwarf but no bodies to go with them.

The deaths seemed to have stopped for now.

Also, I am not in a scorching biome, its temperate.

And what does OP mean?
