Some Music to Set the MoodPersonal Log: January 26th, 2040It has been about 12 hours since the Triton left its sub pen. Those twelve hours were filled with anxiety, at least for most of the crew. I knew what the numbers would be like coming back. Low. I had already let go.
The anxiety prevented most of the crew from sleeping, and I had to order sleeping drugs be administered.

We finely reestablished contact with the Triton, flying near Australia. The news was grim. 75% Casualties. The enemy had started employing new subspecies also, completely different from any we've encountered before. The corpses will have to be examined when we get the chance.
I have also placed an order for replacements.
Personal Log: January 27th, 2040The Triton has docked back into base. I personally waited by the docks when the Triton puttered in from the air lock. Shook the hands of the man and woman who made it back. Told them I'd been there, and that you had saved many lives. I ordered them to rest for two days and allowed them special treatment.
The funeral service was quick, an honorable discharge through the airlock within funeral pods.
Personal Log: January 28th, 2040I had conducted an interview with both survivors once they had some rest. These underwater Aliens are much more crafty than the ones of the early Alien War, they're cautious and set up ambushes.
They also requested medi-kits for underwater use, they had to watch one of their fellow aquanauts die of bleeding.
I can only conclude that we'll need more firepower to deal with these cautious aliens, and have requested a gas cannon with phosphorous ammo.
Personal Log: January 29th, 2040 Sobered by our recent losses, the scientists have been working overtime. A breakthrough was quickly made.
A rifle using our gauss technology, it should be able to pierce the alien armor reported from the previous mission. Much more accurate and overall, very impressive. Its design was rushed once again, and I have requested the scientists make a more efficient ammo cartridge.
I have also placed the order for another 10 technicians, using the money gathered by selling the majority of the corpses from the previous mission. They're not really needed, and on the black market they fetch a hefty price. Why people would want a stinking corpse is beyond me. Maybe they put it on their wall as a trophy.
The technicians are badly needed, as we'll need to replace our current rifle design. We can't contract someone to make them, since no one else knows how.
Personal Log: January 30th, 2040It's nearing the end of the month and we'll be getting our first paycheck.
The new aquanauts have arrived. Thank god we didn't get another combat droid, the last one got blown to bits immediately. I've received word they're working on improving the design, however. Maybe they'll program them not to be such god dang cowards this time.
The recruits don't seem phased that they're replacements. They've even started giving themselves call signs again.
I have organized the new recruits' paperwork below.
With the new information, I have designated a new weapon loud out. Heavy Breach. Armed with phosphorous weapons, they get close and blast the area with fire, driving the aliens out.
Personal Log: January 31st, 2012The kinks in the ammo have been worked out, and full production of rifles is underway. The new technicians picked up very fast and we're at double production speed. Hopefully we'll be fully equipped before the next alien incursion.
I have requested underwater medi-kits be researched. While there were many much more interesting and potentially more lucrative topics, adapting the medi-kits to underwater use should be quick, and they could prove useful in the upcoming battles.
Personal Log: February 1st, 2012The review board came today. They inspected everything, from the cleanliness of the floor to the personalities of our crew. They always sour my attitude. The fact we are the only defense against the alien menace, and our performance has to be evaluated for us to get funding. Bah.
Nevertheless, they were impressed with our first encounter, and very impressed that we managed to save many of the civilians during the island attack. A minor boost in funding followed. Not enough, though. It's never enough.

I realize now I probably should have waited on the crew purchases. The maintenance cost is the 1/2 as the purchase price, so essentially I paid 1.5x. Cost me about 400k. Of course, I didn't know if another alien incursion would happen, so having those new member could have been vital. Technicians could have definitely waited, though. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Anyway, I have about 2mil. I plan to spend it purchasing a new base, with a radar, sub pen, and a Barracuda. I'll have to scavenge cash, since it costs about 3m total, but I should be able to do it
