It's always messing with them in some way, must be conversion.
If you look at the lower right corner of the previous gifs you see some pixels changing color

i'm guessing these are the breeders and not really trained for riding, i'd be careful about mounting them. besides, f we managed to get onto one i'd guess it would be hesitant to leave it's partner and it's offspring, and the tribe would probably mind if we took it

i vote against mounting them. read the parchment. take the spear and whatever of the goblins armour fits us and continue exploring east

With some minor modifications this one-size-fits-all ensemble fits rather nicely
You pet big bird, who appears to have calmed down now
As have the younglings, who are now surrounding you
You are not sure if they are domestic or just randomly grazing at this place
All you know is that this forest is full of them

The head has been impaled on the spear, hence minor brain damage
And I wouldn't really know what to show you
I'm doing most of this in Inkscape, export the single frames and put them together in AnimateGif
But I guess I will have to change to another program for that because AnimateGif is randomly messing these up

As for the suggestions... I'm pretty sure distracting and jumping on them counts as agitating
