(spoiler warning guys, the author is trying to tell you its impossible, and hinting you should go a certain way)

investigate waterfall, look for possible route to red marked stone outcropping.

Okay, cut up the toad's edible parts and then do what he said. We can't let so much meat go to waste (yay for cleptomania!). :(

"I'm not climbing all the way back down. How's that for a compromise?"

"Giant Toad Brain acquired... yay..."

"That's the closest I can get. Can't see past the mist and water, the exposed cliffs are rather narrow, but I could try using the horns as a grappling hook again on any of these. Or whatever you guys want."

"I could also try and jump over from a little up higher. But I fear I might just be flushed down again if I can't hold on to something."

Grapple over to the pink mushroom, and then examine the rock with the marking closer to see if we can grapple onto that. Also eat a bite from the pink mushroom and compare the tastes.

"Looks like half the way. Went right in there."

"We should do this more often."

"I had better... tastes wooden.
And the mouth fungi? Could hardly chew that thing.
Nothing happened yet. How about some decent food next time?
Still no booze by the way!"

"There's a narrow platform where the water hits the first time.
The marked stone is sticking out a bit.

Not sure if I could get a decent grip if I leaped over there."

Find the heaviest item in your backpack, tie it to the horns (maybe take off your boots and tie them too?...), throw it into the waterfall (without dropping the rope, obviously) and try to find a cave.

"Wow, there really is a cave. Who would have thought?
And look, even more of those engravings."

"I wonder what they mean. Any ideas?
Looks like this is going on for a while..."

Now look at you, listening to a tumor.

Keep going through the cave. See if any match with the parchment.
