Rapiers are designed to get through links in chainmail or small gaps - an expert fencer can get his blade through the eye-hole in a man's helmet.

An expert, mind you.  Rapiers require absurd finesse to use properly and are of lquestionable practicality on a battlefield.  They were designed for street fights and duels and rely on the agility of the (lightly or unarmoured) fencer getting the hell out of the way of attacks and getting the hell into the way of bodies.  If you get mobbed, they're rather less useful as only the six inches at the very end of the blade are even sharp.

There are always slits in armour... And knights wouldn't be very common guards...

And Deny, i might just talk to you...

Of course they're slits.

But what do you do when you need to pary with a thumb-thin stick against a spear or an axe? Or an sword...
You can't always dodge.

Not only that, it's too far into the future.

Err, yes. But even swords had trouble in piercing plate armor.

Though, the years are early for our timeperiod, so I'm guessing the advancements in platemail haven't been that developed.

Still, rapiers cannot kill a trained, armed soldier in plate. Especially when the method of training before was for knights or at the very least, armored infantry to know where to strike a man.

We have these, though. But to generalize, we have swords. :P

So then my futuristic space skewer will stab opponents dead, and train to be an expert.

And I also believe that Assassins are outnumbered 55-1, so learning to M-M-MONSTER KILL groups of guards would be near essential...

Maybe dual wield an Estoc and my Rapier...

No. Just no, seriously. This isn't Assassin's creed, I'd rather see the game retain some semblance of intelligence. >:(
Also, I am having a very long meeting, here. :P

Or just use my resources and agility to kill guards.

And it would just be the agility of an AC guy.

Then the guards stabs you from behind, because you don't have any eyes on your back..

Also, if I remember correctly, an Estoc is two-handed...

Erm, just to point out (and totally support that mustachio Yoink!), that duel-wielding is impractical, and mostly very hard to do even with a seasoned fighter.

The fighting style of an Estoc is different from a rapier, with the former aimed at slashing and cutting movements while the latter is focused on thrusting and riposte//counter-ripostes.

Also, you can't just swing blades around and expect people to die left and right. Here, we don't have mooks. We have nobles...

Well, noble mooks, but that's missing the point!  :P

Or just use my resources and agility to kill guards.

And it would just be the agility of an AC guy.
Or just kill nobles, like an NPC assassin, but you're risking your own life and have the potential for better weaponry//armor!

((AC?))

Edit: Thanks. *Facepalm.*

Oh, that's what he meant. I wasn't 100% sure.
Yeah, no. Being agile, surprisingly, doesn'y mean you can flick a sword around and take out a group of armed and angry guards/soldiers before scaling a building and free-running to safety. ::)

Killing Noble Mooks? Yes please.

I also figured to just avoid guards entirely, instead just killing a Noble Mook, where the strengths of a Rapier (duelling, like you said) would kill his ass. And if guards intervened after, I can use my superior agility to evade and escape. Simple. No needing to Power-Level use of rapiers, no need to fight 2735 guards before killing my target, etcetera.

And a Crossbow Bolt is AP, if Wikipedia is anything to go by.

Why even bother with dueling... Just kill him while he's asleep!

You slip on the sewage thrown out by the townspeople.

The guards catch up to you.

. . .

Profit?

Anyway, the killing of nobles would be particularly hard, if done against fellow Adranics, as the nobility has...certain repercussions when their strings are played with, if you catch my drift.

Now, if you were a foreign envoy//assassin, that would at least have it's benefits that you get to talk to our neighbors-who-most-of-us-only-have-vague-ideas-of, and get to fight for the King!

Though this needs GM confirmation.

I mean, it's much better when you socialize with us, socialize with the NPCs, leave a bloody corpse, and then laugh at our faces when we (IC) realize your plan!

Or about to go asleep... Talk to the traitors about loyalty.

But what happens if I need to kill during the day? Just disguises and clever stealth? Or maybe get some poison delivery system.

Wait... Sewage is on roofs?

My advantage is my ability to use a city as a large playground. Anyone that can actually reach me is either A) a T-800 (Therefore I'm screwed) or B) very lightly armoured (therefore stabby stabby)

So you're saying instead of just my mother being foreign, actually making my character a foreign assassin?

And plan? I only plan to serve my king.
