Strange New World: Suggestion Game!
« on: July 06, 2012, 10:50:23 pm »

After over 7 years of travel, the brave colonists onboard the HMCS Gillard have arrived. They came from all walks of life, criminals, families, rich people, but ultimately they all came to extend man's reach into the stars.
OOC: Turns are months, there will be no food but if a citizen has  no acess to a colony pod for 2 months he/she will die. Colonists can be trained into other professions.

 * Specialize 50 additional colonists to become scientists
 * 10/10 scientists begin researching "colony" research
 * 40/40 builders to build "colony pod"
 * 5/50 soldiers to go scouting in the direction of the "building of some sort"
 * 10/50 soldiers assigned to miners, all of whom are to go mine
 * 35/50 soldiers on local patrol
 * Remaining 50 colonists proceed to have a massive orgy to produce more colonists

EDIT:
For simplicity, rather than 10 scientists doing research, how about we say that they're the ones training the 50 colonists to become scientists. That way, we go into next turn assigning 20 researchers to each of the three research categories. 10 scientists generates new research in two months, so presumably 20 scientists will generate new research in one month. And by having equal numbers in each category and all starting together next month...that means that all three research trees progress equally and together, which simplifies accounting.

With Labour, comes rewards.
Month 1
The Training of additional scientists is going well, it should be done in an extra 2 months.
The scientists begin research. They are going well and will finish on schedule.
The builders manage to build another colony pod in good time, with no faults. Produced: Colony Pod
A small squad gear up with radios and gauss weaponry. They are never seen again. Lost: 5 soldiers, 5 gauss rifles.
All the miners and ten soldiers gather. Using good experience, they manage to excavate a godly amount of dirt, stone, and ore. Gained: 4 tonnes iron, 2 tonnes plasmastone, 3 tonnes unidentified.
Some soldiers go on patrol around the ship, and spot nothing.
A celebratory orgy is held, and using the advanced growth acceleration technology available, you gain 4 new colonists!

...do our soldiers lack basic handheld radios, or did they just suddely go silent?

 * Set up a 24/hr scanning perimeter with our scanners
 * Continue with 10 soldiers guard miners, 35 soldiers on perimeter
 * All miners continue to mine
 * 104 colonists on orgy duty
 * Research and training continues

Research Turtle, basically.

OOC: The radios just went silent, and the handheld scanners are for the scientists to examine stuff, ie alien tech, unidentified ore...
Perserverance Is the Key to Victory
Month 2
The miners continue mining, except at a slower pace. Gained: 2 tonnes carbon, 1 tonne copper.
The orgy continues, and 6 new people are welcomed into the fray!
Reserach Complete!
New Schematic: Reserach Lab. Space for 20 scientists. Requires 1 tonne gold, 1 tonne copper, 3 tonnes iron.
New Schematic: Rover. Unarmed recon Vehicle, space for 5. Powered by solar. 1 tonne copper, 1 tonne iron.
New Schematic: Plasma Reactor: Uses a tonne of plasmastone to produce 5 power for 3 months. 2 tonnes iron.
New Schematic: Sensors. 2 Power a month. 1 tonne iron and copper.
At the end of the month, weak radio signals are detected. It is the scout team! However, only 2 survive. The corpses of the others are upon their shoulders, and their weapons in their hands. The first comes to you.
" We were ambushed, the city was human like but ruined. They attacked with advanced plasma and EMP weaponry. I killed three, and they looked antlike.

Hero Gained: Brutus Kai
Hero Gained: Mia Jenkins

they looked antlike

 * Inform the build crew of the possibility of subterranean attack. Ask them to design all future structures with this in mind.
 * Inform the soldiers of this possibility as well.

 * Miners: Request focus on copper and iron.
 * Soldiers: 10+Mia guard miners, 35+Brutus on local patrol
 * Builders: Build a research lab
 * Scientists: Identify unidentified material
 * Everyone else: Orgy duty

Check Buildings. Thing is, buildings all take 1 month unless otherwise stated. Also, people are sick of orgies.

Check Buildings

...ahh. I see. Which means we'll have more scientists than we can accomodate. Ok, changed my suggestions to reflect that.

Ok. So 50 builders to do that? 100 builders could build 2 building in one month, yes?

people are sick of orgies.

Not really sure what else to have them do. We already have more scientists than we can accomodate. I supposed we could turn them into soldiers/miners/builders, but...meh.

They can still do tasks, just not as effectively.

Ok. Then have them mine. At the moment we have more buildings to build than materials to build them.
