Nice to see you getting some more publicity for this.

The image of the surface with the ship, is that purely concept art or is it reasonably similar to what the surface will look like?

Have you got any idea of what the required system specs are going to be yet?

The exterior will be flatter than that image. But the dry, rocky jungle look is what I'm hoping for.

Windows users will need about 4gb of RAM. An i5 and a NV 9800gtx or above. So pretty middle of the range, I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze the engine for lower specced users.

On that note Just uploaded a new test video. Volume effects and lighting test: http://youtu.be/VGUpVYL0ipM?hd=1

Definitely looking like time to get around to building my next computer then, as this one is slipping below that (core 2 quad 2.4Ghz, NV 8800 GT, 8Gb RAM).

And pretty new video, though all the fog/smoke makes it look like something is on fire :P. Are you still looking at a kickstarter in November?

Yeah that effect will probably a lot narrower when it comes into the game properly. Will be for those fusion reactors, when they start malfunctioning (because god-forbid one of them explodes).

Still hoping for November the first. Still panicked as I really need to fix the character animation so I can start showing them off and I have about 3 days before I need to submit a final video. :|

Fusion? Not fission? Want it so bad.

It is really wonderful watching the progression of the game/engine. It's a priviledge; it's inspiring. It makes me wish I had the mindset for programming. :)

You know fusion reactors don't explode. Not really. The worst that can happen is a critical failure of structural integrity(In which the magnets tear themselves apart), or an explosion of the cooling liquid, which for some reason is highly volatile.

Fission reactors don't generally explode either, only lose containment in various ways. They're not a bomb; the underlying principle might be the same, but the engineering certainly isn't.

It's just a common trope that the result of careless management of nuclear anything results in a spectacularly energetic failure. A more realistic approach might actually be even more of a reason to prevent total failure, because while its failure might not be quite as shocking, it would pretty much make the reactor's location and a sizeable area around it unlivable. Conversely, usually reactor failures in games just cost you some resources.

Thing is. Even with the minor failures the reactors can suffer, the 0 ventilation pressurized atmosphere of the chambers they will be in will add to the fun significantly.

Got the magma/lava looking a lot more lava like using my new Pfx system!

Kickstarter is now incoming. Do you think it would be bad/rude to create a new thread here to get the news out?

Disclaimer: I know basically nothing about the specific rules here.

I reckon it would be worth it to have a new thread, just so that the creator of the game (since they are actively on the forum) is able to have the OP, and is therefore able to update it with whatever news and stuff happens as it happens.

Done. And thanks! Currently doesnt have the lava lighting in. It will be pretty mind blowing when every lava particle is a light.

No ventilation? But then there would be no ventilation ducts for snarks, small children and ree to crawl around inside when the base is inevitably overrun.  :P

It should be fine, just post a link here to the new thread and post a link in the first post of the new thread linking back here. I'd start the new thread when the kickstarter starts or just(1-2 days) before.

No ventilation?

There are several room types. The one you can build reactors in is a sealed radiation containment chamber. No vents! Although it would take something pretty substantial to breach, when it does, you are in a world of hurt.

Another Lava pic!

Is it just an effect of it being a still shot, but in the upper right it looks like lots of overlapping little balls of lava?

Just noticed the different angles on the walls, is that something you will be able to select when digging? So you can have steep chutes to drop stuff down and shallower ones that can be walked back up?

Another Lava pic!

When I first saw that I wondered why someone was trying to climb out of the lava...
