this begs the question, you can't even transfer bins or barrels to the depot when the elves come or can you use bins but ONLY sell the items inside if you don't want to offend ?

You can have wooden items at the trade depot, as long as no wood was used in any item you are offering for trade. This means that you can safely pick items out of a wooden bin to trade, but because food barrels are always traded whole (you can't pick just the food to trade), you can only sell food contained in non-wooden barrels. You can force prepared meals to be stored out of barrels by setting up a stockpile which takes prepared meals, but is set to have 0 barrels in its building options. Then either remove prepared meals from your main stockpile, or give/take into the new one. Once meals have been de-barreled, you can transport the meals directly.

Piss then of?

Why that?
Elves are hypocrites. They worships nature and hate to see other races defile it by creating stuff with wood.
Elves obtain their wood and wooden products by having trees grow them directly. Other races obtain their wood by taking an axe to the tree with no regard for its pain or feelings. That's why they'll trade wood away but not accept it.

To recage the troglodyte, build the cage containing it in a small room, and link it to a lever. Build a cage trap in the only exit to that room, and ensure that it's loaded with a non-wooden trap (temporarily forbid wooden cages from stocks, or move metal cages nearer, or whatever you need to do). When the lever is pulled, the troglodyte will be released. As long as there's nothing interesting in the room, it will path out of the room, and over your new trap.
