Something to note: The sky island which is our overworld does not have an aura so thaumcraft stuff will work but will not recharge. Its a slight inconvenience but not insurmountable. Once we build a nice place to house the portals to the other worlds, I will place them down.

Correct, not on the sky island. Well... I think you might be able to force them to with the magic hoe. It works on silverwood/greatwood trees.

We won't be able to do any thaumcrafting at all, except for blind research. We won't even be able to make a thaumnomicon, since it requires 5 Vis IIRC.

Nope, they only have 1 vis when crafted.
