I believe it would be theoretically possible.  Namely, using Assemblers you can place solid blocks, but not panels, covers, or wires, though you can place jacketed wires.  It's not as clean, but with a little effort you could allow the assemblers to run through a construction bay, laying down solid blocks, frames, jacketed cables, and all the other stuff to make a rather rugged frameship.  The only thing the player would need to do, is align the engines the right way, since the assembler will place them in a generic direction.

I'm not sure if an assembler can place a solar panel, but I think so.  If not, then the ship could be done with thermopiles...

Also debating the most effective way to mount a TNT cannon onto a mass-production frameship.  I think my ideal ship would be more like a flying tower, with cannons facing in all four directions.  The traditional water-cushioned cannon might get tricky aboard a frameship, I think I'd prefer the raw intensity of an encased cannon, by placing IC2 reinforced stone or obsidian around the firing tube, the cannon can be made explosion-resistant to everything except nukes.

It'd also be fun to set up a boarding ship, using explosive charges or block breakers to dig your way into the enemy ship's hull.

I agree. No game can ever have enough metals.

No IC2 support for all those metals tho.

Bummer... Macerator feels left out. :(

(unless we make it? for justice!)

If we have Railcraft we can use railcannons (solid block->powered rail->speed transfer rail->launch rail I think it was)...

That's true, and a lot more mechanical, plus less timing and less internal fortifying.  Of course that only works with TNT.  IC2 nukes won't fly in minecarts.

Damnit. I just want to convert and upgrade my dream catcher cannon.
(its a double-barreld, two story 3-shot cannon made in 1.3. The good ol' TNT cannon times are long over...)

I was doing a lot of scaffold + foam pellet construction in the Mining Age, if that helps any.

It wasn't anything you did. In fact minecraft didn't crash at all... windows update decided it would be a fantastic time to reboot the system despite the fact that I had turned automatic updates off.

Server should be back up now.
