By the time I had made all the machines to get the materials, I wouldn't have enough space to actually build anything.

And that is fine Super, those were the contest's restrictions. Seeing what the three contestants have built, and knowing that they did it literally from basic materials to completion, is truly impressive. In Ivefan's case, he even used his own materials since he made his entry outside of the contest area.

I did change two things as the contest went on. I allowed more vertical space (downwards anyway) and I allowed them to use an unused plot to make a common machine shop/crafting area.

The point of the contest was not 'who can make the best thing' but 'who can make the best thing within the restrictions of the contest'.

Is that why you haven't been back Super? You're welcome to return and play with us if you like. Ivefan built a pretty cool looking park area and has been working to get some more lamps up so we don't have torches all over the damn place. We're slowly making Twelve Sands a nice place to live, and I have more stuff planned for the future.

I made a furnace, workbench and chest next to the shore (also next to a ridge), and dug a bit down. I put down a few wooden blocks to mark chunk boundaries.

They're not important at all.

Hey, can I get a plot of land to officially call my own in the 1.2.5 server Town? Right now I made a shack close to Town but I don't want to invest in it if it's not permanent. Also it's a bit too close to Town anyway so, if I have to make my own place, I'll probably end up going farther away.

Not that I know of. I have a small rail system in my house that goes out to my secondary site which I plan to build at, but its not complicated or interesting. Just powered rails and a cart dispenser system.

You're welcome to start on one though if you like.

do quarries need fully repaired diamond picks? if not, I'm off to mine obsidian for a nether portal to save me railtracks.
