Ferengi conquered Caldonia and Malcor, what to do?

Retreat to Xerxes (main shipyard colony), forget remote colonies (for now), rebuild fleet, retake worlds
Gather remnants of fleet at new, prospering colonies and defend them until fleet is rebuild (Holsberg/Peliar Zel)
1, but spend part of money to mess up diplomatic ties between Romulans, Ferengi and others.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just as our scientists give us better biology and propulsion technologies, Malcorians beg for our help. The Cardassian fleet consists of a transport ship and eleven scouts. The Malcorians have brought six orbital platforms online but we don't know how long they will last.
Caldonia will have the shipyard ready in a week, and then, it will be few weeks before we can comission even one Miranda-class destroyer. We will try our best, though. Sol production queue was shifted a bit, so we will have two destroyers being built simultaneously.

Next week we send Cpt.Roberts and USS Khartoum (against his protests) to charter the vast amount of space that's now in our reach thanks to Caldonia shipyard. Caldonians are able to finish a Miranda-class destroyer in mere two weeks - we should have considerable force in few months.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cardassians ask us to sign peace. We do not sign peace with someone who tried to subjugate our friends! Besides, take a look at this:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Appears that Cardassians aren't strong enough to tackle several orbital platforms. Ho. Ho. Ho.
Despite this fortunate turn of events, we will continue with construction of Miranda-class destroyers. Few of those should keep Cardassians out of our way at least for a long while.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, Sol and Caldonia finish first pair of Mirandas - USS Lantree and USS Stratford. The former was placed under command of Captain Burnt Pies, and the latter is commanded by Captain Han Zoku. They will be sent to Malcorian system, with affiliation treaty as well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We also get news from Cpt.Roberts, he found a large, old planetary system just yesterday.

At Turn 70, USS Brittain is leaves Caldonia shipyard. It is commanded by Captain Ebb Ro.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And Cpt.Roberts fell into very middle of Ferengi territory, establishing first contact with them! He was ordered to perform his charter duties in the region as long as Ferengi won't state any objections or threat us with repercussions.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, nope. And as you can see, Malconians rejected our treaty. Time to bribe them a little more.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week we discover that Ferengi are in possesion of a wormhole! Whilst it promises fast travel across half of galaxy in tiny fraction of time, the wormhole might be unstable. We will send personal inquiry to Cpt.Roberts to see if he is willing to take the risks and enter the vortex of unknown. Just in case, Caldonia shipyard will construction a replacement Oberth vessel.
Speaking of Caldonia shipyards, they just constructed another Miranda-class destroyer - USS Tian An Men. This one, however, will stay at Caldonia instead being stationed in Malconia. A safety measure if Ferengi show hostile intentions.

Put your faith in God and take a leap from the lion's mouth.  Captain Roberts takes the plunge into the unknown.

Edit:  Naturally, install a basic AI to automate ship functions as much as possible.  If the good Captain can solo this mission, nobody else has to die.

Now that combat is started, I request transfer from Sol to a Miranda that is going into battle.  Let no one destroy what I have built!

Now that the heat wave is over and both me and my PC aren't dying from overheat anymore, we're back to the LP updating, yaay!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Following Cpt.Robert's agreement, the Oberth is preparing to engage it's impulse engines and dive into the wormhole!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Few days later our scientists move our Construction knowledge up one level.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cpt.Roberts sent us first batch of data! He reports seevral varying stars in the vicinity of the wormhole, not to mention a large amount of subspace signatures that are most propably ships or an outpost even! He was ordered to gather as much data as possible, and try to initiate a peaceful first contact with the aliens.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Two weeks later our Malconian defenders intercept and ultimately destroy an Cardassian transport. Cpt.Roberts still transmitting data from the other side of the wormhole.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Breakthrough in Computers! We've ordered construction of trade centers everywhere we can, as well as communications' grid in Caldonia. Cpt.Roberts reports that the aliens aren't trying to visit him, so we ordered him back home.

Next week, Captain Illi Kor welcomed Roberts at our side of the galaxy, as USS Alacrity was chartering Ferengi border worlds. After passing gifts and congratulatory notes from Sol, Cpt.Roberts is back to hsi old job - chartering the systems below Ferengi space.
In the meanwhile, USS Cavalier, our 'replacement' Oberth is completed. Captain Neer Dell took command of it. Instead of conducting scientific duty, it will go and reinforce Malconia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ullians agreed for trade treaty! Our members, Caldonians, were put in charge of the trading with the Ullians. And speaking of Caldonians, we just finished and powered their Think Tank, which boosts our research by 25% all across the six boards.

======

You see that wormhole? You see that flock of 'unknown' ships? It is (most propably) Romulus. Which means that we have direct shortcut into heart of Romulan territory!

This LP looks better and better with each few turns ;D

Of course, the problem with any wormhole is actually using the damn thing. Your ship range doesn't extend "through" the wormhole, so to get any use out of it you'll need to build an outpost or starbase on the far side. Good luck with that while sitting right next to their homeworld.

1. Send giant armada through wormhole, along with couple of transports
2. Armada defends while Starbase is built
3. ???
4. Profit!

At least, in theory :P

Unless the Romulans have claimed the territory. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can build outposts/colonize systems in sectors that are claimed by another empire.

Well, I haven't made first contact. If we theoretically don't make first contact, we could build said starbase all fine because the game doesn't 'recognize' territories for you as long as the other empire is unknown to you.

Which is quite normal.

"WHAT, WHY YOU'RE SETTLING HERE!?"
"Oh, you guys live here? Sorry, haven't seen you before."
"Fffffuuuuuuu-"

I'd say that you should in the least get an outpost at both sides of that wormhole ASAP, and worry about upgrading them to starbases later. Either way, that is an awesome place for a wormhole.

That's... that's best idea O;

I just need to check if one can build outside supply range.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cpt.Roberts doesn't stop with marvelous discoveries! He made first contact with the Klingon Empire, a nation of honourable warriors. We hope there will be no need to test their combat prowess anytime soon.

The same week, Ferengi offer us a one-year non-aggression pact. We have decided to accept it. We sent affiliation treaties to both Malcorians and Ullians, with small gifts attached to them.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Week later, our scientists bring us Beam Hardening technology.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Klingons declare war on Ferengi in the same time in which Malcorians and Ullians reject our treaties. With gifts we go, then. Cpt.Roberts is almost done with chartering Klingon border.

Week later, Klingons demand money but we can't really afford that.
As a recognition of Bob Roberts' skill and courage, he has been promoted to the command of USS Tian An Men, currently stationed at Malcorians homeworld.
Young captain called Jarod Cain has taken the command of USS Khartoum in his stead.
We also decided to construt three additional Miranda-class vessels at Caldonia, to protect us from possible Klingon incursion. USS Khartoum and USS Alacrity shall join the destroyers, forming a second task force, stationed at Caldonia.

Energy breakthrough brings us many much needed improvements, as well as Ambassador-class design. However it will be a while before we can construct few of these.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, two diplomatic messages. We rejected the Ferengi war pact because it's not our war to fight, but the Cardassians are pretty occupied or otherwise unwilling to continue hostilities, as not even a single ship was seen since destruction of their transport. There's also a possibility that Cardassians will break the treaty when we will be looking away from Malcor. On other hand - free money!

So, I've decided to hear opinions of high ranking officials and Starfleet commanders on this matter.
