I never could muster up enough patience to be good at Hearts of Iron (any of them), but I'd like to give this a try.

I will, of course play as the glorious independent socialist country of Yugoslavia some place no-one's ever heard of and nobody cares about much. Except me, for my compassion for those places is so great I'm willing to acknowledge that they were somehow important in their very non-special way.

There are fan-made converter utilities for all the current main Paradox releases (CK2->EU3->Vic2->HoI3). They work pretty damn well, although shit gets somewhat derpy as you go along just because history is so "broken", plus you usually have a couple of giant blobs vying for power rather than a true multipolar situation.

I haven't done a full grand game with CK2 yet, but I've done a couple of them with CK1->EU3->Vic1->HoI2, as well as a couple of shorter grand games of EU3->Vic2->HoI3.

If they ever do a good Dark Ages game to bridge EU: Rome and EU3(4?), that could make for a rather insane Mega-Grand Game (although I still think EU: Rome was a stinker).

As Redking said there are fan converters and several people on SA have put up combined Paradox LP's. The ones on the LP Archive are the Germany(ish) one and Kingdom is Israel. With this game and CKII I suspect there shall soon be more.

CK1 had a built in converter to EU2, EU2 had a converter to Vicky 1, Vicky: Revolutions had a built in converter to HOI2 I think.

Combine Darkest hour (1.3), and we'll have a cool 1914-1991. Except it's Hoi2

Sounds like the brigades, though I wonder how they'll deal with range/speed. Because Hoi have always had bad naval system, so I'll wait to see.

Makes sense, since the simmering duels in naval technology were a big part of the Cold War.
