Is your phone on warranty? Most warranties won't cover water damage, so hit your phone with a rock and request a new phone.

This is a bad idea. Phones have a water reactive strip in them that tells people if it was water damage. They will know you are lying.

I once dropped my zune in the toilet............

I once dropped a packet of chewing gum in the toilet. Did you, um, go on using your zune after this happened...? ???

No, I felt that would be as good a time as any to buy a new one. I might have even given it to my brother without telling him what happened to it. It was a while ago though.

Disassemble your phone into as many different pieces as you can. Dry them all out seperately. Try not to apply lots of heat to it - depending on the phone, it can cause some of the parts to disfigure or break. While the phone is in pieces, clean the pieces, and continue leaving them to dry for a while after they appear dry. Leave the pieces in somewhere with lots of dry air (this is where the rice comes in) to dry them.

Phones can recover from water exposure surprisingly often if they're treated properly. I'm a bit worried by how you said that you tried it so soon (and found it 'glitched'), or the scorching heat for three hours, though.

Yeah, honestly it sounds like your responses after dropping it in the water (trying to use the phone, letting the phone suffer heat damage) are going to likely end up responsible for any real damage your phone incurs. Most phones are perfectly capable of surviving a quick dip in the drink, but sending all those charged through it while wet and then exposing it to heat damage... eeeh, those are problems that aren't as easy to recover from.

If it happens again, retrieve phone and immediately remove battery, then setup a drying condition. Rice drying mentioned earlier seems as good as any, at least.
