Browsing Legends, something caught my fascination
« on: July 03, 2012, 07:38:11 am »

I have a group, the Blunt Council, who founded a Town and then build a bunch of stuff.
Then they knocked half of it down. And a year later built a new thing.

They do this repeatedly over the course of 350 years.

Can anybody explain this? Are they actually just renaming the places, rather than building them, destroying them and then building something else on top of it? Or what?

It's odd, to say the least.

It's either that or zombies.

Or aliens.

No kidding.
Searched for a reason, but couldn't find anything sustainable. At first I thought it as just because things were being profaned because it only seems to be temples that this happens to. One temple was profaned once and then razed. Ok. Then another one had a hundred year period of repeated profaning before it was burnt to the ground, and finally others completely unmolested, one for its whole two year existence, and then they burnt them to hell anyway.
Humans are just mad.

Funny thing is it was the same God.
I wonder if this is what Toady is talking about when he last updated with the overwriting of 'total ownership' thing.

They're trying to mimic real life.

Yes, DF has gotten this complex.

It is awesome.
Multi-layered ownership, entities trying to attain goals autonomously, combat overhaul, physics tuning and minecarts... Oh man.

Multi-layered ownership? So a dorf's wife really does own all his stuff?

You think that's weird?

In this game, wagons have gods.

OK, now I just want to mod my wagons to have a maxage, so that way my wagon can die of old age and be buried.   :P

No clue if it is or isn't, but I've seen the exact same thing as well, so it's not just you who has insane self-destructive religions.

You'd need butchers, actually. DF wagons are so important they're considering living creatures. They're not even made out of wood, instead they use some kind of weird skin that transforms into wood when you destroy the wagon for those three precious logs.

Oh god, I hope they don't become super-intelligent and rise to dominance over everything else. I shudder to think what they'd do to make us pay for our merciless slaughter of their species.
