I'm sure this is explained somewhere, but I don't know what search terms to try. There's a capital C on the left side of my screen (currently red). What does it mean, and does anything else get displayed there?

not all might be at that place, but a red C means someone was fighting

I never realized the letters meant anything. I figured they were one of the coding glitches so prevalent, because of the code complexity. Learn something new all the time.

The multicoloured text like in cyan and pink  and yellow, Does it have a specific meaning or is randomly pulled out

it has meaning. red text is an attack against one of your animals or dwarfs that is meant to harm, sparring is light blue (that the cyan?). Forgot, but I think your attacks against enemies are the same color. Dark green is usually when someone got hit in the lower body and is now nauseous and/or vomiting... there is more, and this is only for the combat log, but I don't feel like finding all of it out

Sometimes it's short and sweet.  The gray langur bites the axedwarf in the lower arm, bruising the fat.  It latches on firmly.  The axedwarf hacks the gray langur in the head with the copper battle axe, and the severed part flies off in an arc.
