Lets see if we can filch that fancy grouge knife for some coin. Its easy to explain, we found it in the woods after the grouge attack. Exactly how fancy is it? Would it possibly buy us some provisions or a cart?

I can think of worse ideas, although if it isn't obviously grougian we could claim it was Olof's. It doesn't seem odd that we might have gotten some stuff from Olof's property that we don't need...

The only time suggestion has been 3 hours. Does everyone agree to that or do you want to make up your mind later and just head to the tavern without setting a time?

Ideally it would be during daylight and a time when nobody is generally in the vicinity of Olof's. Not being familiar with the habits of the other villagers I couldn't really give a specific time...

Turn 12: Hey remember her?

Panel 1:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Mayard: "We are leaving tonight, meet me here in three hours, then we'll head back to the shack to get my things or just have my, um, spirit companions meet us in the woods."
Anne:
"Okay, I will have my things ready by then."

Stealing isn't really your style but you suppose it would make getting food easier, no one guards the crops at night except for a few hounds, and since you help out on the fields they don't mind you.
Panel 2:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You begin to head back to the tavern. You think about selling that grouge knife, you don't have any experience figuring out prices for things but it looks at least a bit fancy with a red and gold handle and all. You probably couldn't pass it off as Olof's since his valuable stuff was given away with his will. You might be able to get away with saying you got it off a dead grouge though, you did help bury the bodies after all.

Suddenly, a moderate distance away and a few months into the future a young wind mage is doing her first quest.
Panel 3:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Killing the rats in an old lady's basement for a free meal.

After the lady finished telling you all about her rat troubles and giving you some cheese to use as bait (you can keep it too) she set about getting your free meal ready while you kill the rats.

You have a spell prepared that will force air down the throat of a rat (hopefully making it explode or something) when it tries to eat something the spell is written/engraved on.

My god! One of them is looking at us! Cast ye spell at yonder rat and pray!

Okay, let's see if we can maintain the spell on three pieces of cheese at once. And then pick up that shovel and make them explode into gore...

Just put the paper on the cheese!

If the spell doesn't do anything, go on a smashing spree!

Turn 13: Rat gibs

Panel 1:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You break the cheese into three pieces and write the spell on them in charcoal. Then you scatter the cheese about.
Panel 2:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You look inside the chest. Partly out of curiosity and partly to lure the rats into a false sense of security.

Inside the chest you find:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A whole bunch of silver plates.
And a sword.

Panel 3:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You look at the rats.

Panel 4:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This isn't really working. By using three pieces of cheese you've significantly reduced the spells effectiveness. The rats either get annoyed and back off or just continue trying to eat the cheese.

Panel 5:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You grab the shovel and prepare to brutally kill the rats.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Panel 6:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Well the rats are dead. You made a bit of a mess though.

You guess you should head up the ladder and into the main house to collect your reward. Although, you could take a few things before you go...

Best clean up first and close the chest.
