Tara seems entirely too passive, and Michael seems like a jerk.

Seek out other potential love interests.

Ignore the teacher and check out your prospective love interests. Begin considering plans to get both of them into a relationship with you.

This.

Use your feminine powers on Micheal, and your masculine powers on Tara.

Ponder how to hide your dual-genitalia situation, at least for a while.

Mr. Landice resumes his lengthy dissertation on course requirements, book check-out policies, and other rather mundane details regarding the school and his class. Unlike most high schools with rotating class periods, Sirroco high assigns students only a single classroom. Mr. Landice will be your teacher throughout the day.

You glance at your neighbors. Tara seems to be engrossed in digging school supplies from her backpack. Michael chooses that moment to turn halfway to look at you.

Michael: "Hey."

Alice: "Hey."

Michael: "She's pretty hot, isn't she?"

Alice: "...who?"

Michael: "Tara. Yeah, I'd totally do her. The shy one's are always awesome in bed. Nothing like years of repression to bring out the animal in a girl."

At this Tara blushes furiously and you think you see her hands shaking in silent horror that she'd be spoken of so casually.

Michael: "You saw her first though, so I guess you've got dibs. Fair is fair. Serves me right for showing up late on the first day, huh?"

Alice: "Yeah. I guess so. Is your education really so unimportant to you that you couldn't take the effort to be here on time?"

He seems taken aback by that.

Michael: "Dude, what? Look...I'm going to just let that go. Seriously, let's be friends."

He reaches out a hand and you shake it.

Michael: "Besides, nothing important ever happens on the first day anyway. And I know all this stuff already. I had Landice last year."

You contemplate the implications of that for a moment.

Alice: "Last year? But isn't he a Sophomore teacher only?"

He looks uncomfortable.

Michael: "Yeah, well...I kind of had...you know, stuff. On my mind. Distracting me. From school. Yeah."

Tara, unexpectedly, interjects at that moment.

Tara: "You were held back? Oh, I'm so sorry. Would having a tutor help? I have a friend who tutors disadvantaged students in danger of not graduating."

Michael says nothing, and instead turns to face forward.

Alice: "You have a friend who tutors?

Tara: "Yes. She's very good. And her rates are very reasonable."

Mr. Landice: "Alice. Tara. Can either of you repeat what I just said?"

Tara turns bright red and resumes staring at her desk. You, unfortunately, can't repeat what was said either because you were paying too much attention to your own private conversation.

Mr. Landice: "Neither of you? Mr. Stepford, what about you? Would you repeat for the class what I just said?"

Michael: "Yes, sir. You said that half our final grade would be determined by our midterm, and the other half by our final. Homework is ungraded, and group projects contribute exclusively to our citizenship marks, not our grade."

Mr. Landice raises an eyebrow.

Mr. Landice: "Very well. Alice. Tara. I've come to expect a lack of attention from Mr. Stepford, but I expect better from the two of you. Both of you, detention. Half an hour after class.

Mr. Landice resumes his presentation and about 30 seconds later a note rolled into a ball is tossed from in front of you and lands on your desk: "Gotta have eyes in the back of your head with Landice. Dude's like a hawk. Stick with me. I'll show you the ropes."

The rest of class continues uneventfully. After the final bell rings, Michael gives you a thumbs up as he and the other students depart.

You have half an hour detention alone with Tara and Mr. Landice. What do you do?

Oh God I can't answer that.

Ask Mr Landice if he knows anything about the missing students.

Hit on both of them in a way that would fit our Charisma score if we had one.

After everyone else leaves Mr. Landice explains that he expects the two of you to remain silent during your detention time. Even from the back corner of the classroom you're fairly certain he'd hear anything above the barest whisper, so you decide to write Tara a note.

Alice: "So was it true what Michael said about you being an animal? Because doggie style is hot."

As she reads it her mouth drops in horror, but she's completely speechless and crushes the note in her hand without so much as looking at you. Not content with that, you write her another note:

Alice: "Or maybe you'd rather I was the animal. Come back to my place. I'll be your dog and you can help me bury my bone."

You're not sure if you've ever seen quite the shade of red her face turns when she reads it. Unfortunately she's unable to contain herself and lets out a muffled squeek as tears begin streaming down her face. Mr. Landice looks up when he hears the sound and asks if anything is the matter. Still silent, Tara just shakes her head with her palms flat on her desk to conceal the note. He looks at her for a few moments, then at you. You shrug and he returns to his paperwork with a frown.

The rest of detention proceeds uneventfully.

Mr. Landice: "Alright you two. Your time is up. Let's have this be the last time, shall we? You both have an excellent scholastic history and I'd hate to be the one to smudge your otherwise perfect records."

By the time you've picked your backpack off the floor Tara is already out the door and gone. Looks like she wasn't interested in your offer. As you walk to the door, Mr. Landice give you a strange look.

Mr. Landice: "Alice. I know that Tara is a little too sensitive. But what was it you said to her?"

While you consider how to answer you happen to glance through the window by the door and see Michael standing outside the classroom. Apparently he waited for you.

What do you do?

* Tara Bryce - The shy girl who sits to your right. She is scared of you and thinks you're a pervert.
At least she doesn't have some false impression of us, besides being scared of us for some reason. Now let's ignore her until she shows some sign of being interesting in any way.
