Mod IDea please read ( most likly impossable )

As a great fan of the SCI-FI genre, i was wondering somthing possible impossable but hopefuly very awesome...
would it be possible to create a space baised version of DF???
also im not entirely new to the forums but this is the first topic ive made so sry if ive done somthing wrong D: (dont hit me)

There's been a couple, as well as several non-space sci-fi mods. Search around a bit.

There is the warhammer 40k Necromunda Mod, but you cant do real space-something. You can do settlers on ONE alien planet, and alien races and trees and plants, and rocks/materials. Even machines and constructs, sc-fi buildings and so on... but no space exploration.

what would be cool if you could set up outposts in a new dwarffortress update...
have your main base then other bases you can switch between could make the game much more *FUN* but also more replayable?
what are your thoughts?

I believe that is a planned feature, How it would work might be hard, because while you shift control to one of your outposts the other has to "freeze" in a sense. Unless Toady makes it like Adv. Mode with the play map and Fast Travel Map. In which it might turn into some sortof turn-based board game stratgy

"Goblins have lain siege to Outpost 2, what will you do overseer? <Spectate, assigned AI noble has good Military Tactics and units. Take Control of the battle. Send units from Outpost 1 (time for them to get there.)>"

But for Toady to have all your assigned outposts having the AI run and the calculations going I think even my beast of a computer would be brought to its knees with just two outposts.

But for an idea for that. Maybe it can be another option, you can abadon and quit. or you can build wagons, load them up with supplies and relocated with your dwarves to new lands. This idea I like, cause sometimes I get attached to my named dwarves, and hate abadoning and lossing them forever.

Presumably, the AI would ruin your fortress in your absence. I'm not sure if that's a typo or not.
