Aren't potatoes a starch? May as well be touting the value of wheat.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Hey, don't go knocking wheat and other grains. But in my book, potatoes are the best vegetables.

For a close second place...carrots. I prefer to eat them raw. Also great for Bugs Bunny impressions.

By culinary standards, potatoes are a vegetable. Scientists might say differently, I don't know.

At any rate, I'm going to give out some props to onions. So many basic stocks, soups and sauces just wouldn't be the same without them.

I don't think there's any scientific definition of vegetable.  It's pretty much defined in terms of stuff we can eat.

Nomads are cool and tall and muscular. City-dwellers are short and flabby.

My favorite fruit is milk.

Wait, does garlic count as a vegetable? If so, that gets my second-best vote instead of carrots.

I'd say veggies are all plant food that isn't a fruit, legume, cereal, grain, etc.

But that's just me.

I vote for bell pepper, lettuce.

Potatoes, followed by carrots and onions are the best.

Chokos are pretty cool-looking through.

I don't think there's any scientific definition of vegetable.  It's pretty much defined in terms of stuff we can eat.

There is but for shipping laws we use the culinary definitions. It is why Tomatoes are taxed as a vegetable. (Basically the best way to go by it is.. Vegetables don't have seeds and are not seeds)

Anyhow...

Vegetables are really sweet and delicious. For the most part the vast majority of people who dislike vegetables stem from one factor: They don't know how to cook it.

I've seen cooking shows outright state that this is why. A lot of vegetables infamos for being bitter and mushy are actually sweet and crisp when cooked properly.

Just overboil Brocoli and let it sit in the water a while and see. Its usually crisp refreshing taste will turn into a very mushy, watery, and bitter taste.

I believe so.

Also yeah that would probably get my vote on my favorite vegetable too.

Garlic deserves its own category. It goes under "The Best of All Things, Anywhere".

Humans were shorter in the past. Five to ten inches shorter in the mid 1800's, when the first records of it were taken. You can only imagine how it was back in the days of nomads. Muscular is doubtful too. Limited diet, common disease...

If you want tall and muscular humans, you are only going to find them in the modern day.

I like that this thread started out with the express purpose of literally comparing apples to oranges.

My favourite vegetable? Probably the onion, yeah, I use it in almost everything I cook.
