Some films are so bad they are brilliant, in a MSC3000 way. I submit the following: Space Mutiny (warning - TVTropes!)
Oh lord...the origin of Big McLargeHuge. That really is a pretty awful film.

I've seen quite a few MST3K shows and this is probably the finest moment. I don't think any other movie gives them such good material for mockery. Yes, it's so bad it's horrible, but it's so cheesy (compared to say, Werewolf, which made me snore) it almost makes MST3K look great rather than the other way around.

The Room by Tommy Wiseau is a masterpiece of storytelling. It made me laugh until I cried, because the first time I watched it I could not figure out if it was satire of amateur moviemaking or not. It's not.

The Room on TvTropes.

I dunno...I think my favorite all time MST3Ks was Time of the Apes (a really bad Japanese ripoff of the Planet of the Apes series).

Although Catalina Caper is a close second, just for this Tom Servo bit:

Also check out the MST3K of Ed Wood's Bride of the Monster, that's another good one.

Oh dear gods, I vaguely remember watching some movie called Ed Wood. :-\ That was quite bizarre.

Oh yeah! Johnny Depp as Ed Wood, IIRC. And they touched on how completely unhinged the dude was. And his fetish for angora and crossdressing.

What is the best film?

I'd say 12 Angry Men. But only the 1954 version. Not the 90's one. Or the Russian one. (For the record, why is there a Russian version of a movie about the American Legal System?)

The Russian one is 12, right? I watched that today and it's actually a very good movie. It didn't have anything to do with the American legal system. The adaption isn't as loose as described, it's there but not a translation of the film by any means. You can tell who each of jurors in 12 is supposed to represent (the cab driver is #3, the Holocaust survivor is #9, the television exec is #2, and so on).

e: The film is apparently supposed to be symbolic of Russia's fragmented society, so it does make a bit more sense.

Oddly enough my favorite was "Alien Fugative" 1 and 2.
