So, just to clarify: The mayor still keeps his position, but he's now a completely useless noble since liaisons path to my Baron instead?
He helps you test your magma traps, usually a bit after making a mandate. Mayors with unreasonable mandates also make great candidates for testing with minecarts.
"Okay, Lord Mayor, you simply push off. Enjoy the madien voyage! Let us know where you land, okay?"
