Things I learned today
« on: June 29, 2012, 11:59:51 am »

I'd like to post the things I learn in a day here, just so I can remember them a bit better. Kindly keep any arguing out, I deal with enough of that elsewhere.

Today I learned that I have a good friend.
Today I learned how to tell a good cantaloupe from a bad one.
Today I learned how to work a forklift.
Today I learned people are more often willing to help out that is apparent.
Today I learned about Deferred Gratification.

Did you learn anything today?

I learned that autobattleing on the highest difficulty, even with favorable odds, still usually leads to defeat.

Today I learned that there are trite thread ideas that had not yet occurred to me.

Also, that steering wheels in a hot car tend to be considerably hotter than the ambient temperature. I already knew that, but obviously needed a remedial lesson.

I learned that the girl at the bank is a descendant of horse thieves and vikings.

Statistically speaking, everybody on earth is a descendant of at least 1 of each.

And pirates. I suppose it stands to reason that people prone to raping and pillaging would have a larger accumulation of progeny that the non-raping professions.

I learned I'm getting too old, half the jokes on the internet now feature pokemon, a "brand" that has never left its stages of infancy, to me.

Well, as far as tvtropes goes, Pokemon was made because the creator guy wanted a new thing to collect. And now look where we're at: ~600+ Pokemons an amount of movies comparable to the number of Final Fantasy games, a TCG, spinoff things, and a tv show that has gotten slightly more boring at intro themes if you compare the most recent one to the original one.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Today I learned that water that isn't chlorinated still burns when it goes down your nose. I learned this because it was water day at a summer church thingy I help at.

I also learned that small children can be vicious little bastards, but that's not really news to anybody.
