Had my first few battle spot doubles matches.  So far an Arcanine with intimidate, snarl, will-owisp, burn up, and protect moveset seems to go far.  At least until folks realize what it's doing, but then it's usually too late. Kinda surprises me because this set seems to be almost identical to a set posted on smogon. I would think everybody and their mother would see it coming.

I also found out that a rest talker Dragonair does not have the bulk to survive getting beaten on by 2 pokes in ideal conditions, and that a Infiltrator crobat is a good way to make substitute users ragequit.

Infiltrator makes me lol. Also, the Battle Tree cottons on to your team very fast; by the second battle, they had not one but two Mold Breaker (haxorus and sawk) mons on their team so they could avoid triggering Disguise on Mimikyuu, making it much harder to set up. Mercifully, Mimikyuu's fast enough that it outspeeds most pokemon of similar speed tiers, plus Play Rough is amazing.

Wicke is pretty much the only person who knows what's going on and is still actually good. Faba is an ass, while most of the rest of the employees were told that you're there to hurt the Pokemon they're protecting.

It's implied that, years before the game start, Lusamine's husband(Lillie and Gladion's dad, obviously) fell into an Ultra Wormhole and likely killed, leaving behind only Cosmog and notes on Nihilego - I would say that it's possible that Lusamine came into contract with Nihilego's poison, the events of the game is her overdosing on it. Otherwise, she simply became obsessed with Nihilego being responsible for her husband's death, and somehow her love for her husband mixed with her search for Nihilego, resulting in her desiring Nihilego - possibly strongly enough that it summoned Nihilego during the first visit to the Paradise.

Oh wait, are you visiting the place for the first time? Maaaaay not want to open those spoilers then.

In the dimensional research facility, one of the books says that Professor Mohn was the first to posit the theory of Ultra Wormholes. In the postgame, Aether Paradise 2F, Gladion mentions that his father was the first to propose the theory of UWs and UBs.

She does call you out for doing exactly that, saying you're no different than her for it. She puts them on ice when they're no longer cute(fun fact, her entire team are cute-mons), you put them in a box when they're no longer powerful enough. In previous generations, this would have been entirely true, but Sun/Moon is the first game where your boxed 'mons actually get to do stuff - since the Pokemon in your party exist solely for battle, boxing them might even be more humane. Constant war, or an island paradise with plenty of food, relaxation, and satisfying work?

I still think it's disappointing since Pokemon Pelago is common knowledge, and a place like that would be of interest to the Foundation since it has a very similar role.

... is that shoving pokemon in the PC is pretty much something I only do because the gameplay so strongly incentivizes you for doing so, gotta catch 'em all and all that. Having the game's story chide you for attempting to complete the game's overall objective is pretty damn annoying.

In some games I suppose it makes sense to point out to the player that they're being a horrible person, but it doesn't feel appropriate here. I've only got things in my PC that I want to evolve to complete the pokedex. At which point they'll sit there forever, until they get shunted over to the next game in order to complete that game's pokedex, and so on.

I wonder if her speech is any different if you don't use the PC. I'd assume not, but the game does point out when you don't use Z moves in at least one battle.

In other news, I've just about run out of beast ball gible, but i've made some good hauls right back. One of which was a beast ball Jangmo-o with near perfect IVs, who's now going straight into breeding.

In the anime at least once during a talk with Ash, Prof Oak is there to take care of the boxed pokemon, using and area of his property similar to, but smaller in scale than, the Aether Foundation's conservation deck. It is implied in-game that Bill's PC and etc for each region is a way-point server or outright a small-scale aether conservation deck-like facility, reardless of this someone's in-game location which btw, they usally have houses near inaccessabile-by-player boundaries, implying they may be near a hidden "farmland" of somekind.

btw Any of You Play any Spectrobes games? The incubator is exactly this simulated-world idea, especially on the wii-title Spectrobes-Origins, which allows you to jump right in, via two-way hologramming shenanigans. for those who don't know: Spectrobes is ds&WII-era Disney take on Pokemon, and worth a play but certainly different than pokemon. Spectrobes BTP was IMO the best in the Title but play Spectrobes1 first of course.
