I have been tasked with killing a terrible beast in a cave. And not one of those little pits in the ground, but a proper cave entrance.
The problem is, the cave is "Impossible" to go down.
Ie the Rame at the end of the entrance tunnel seem to be in a location where it is impossible ot go down the ramp...
Any help?

Add [FLIER] to the race your playing as.


Then just fly down/up.

Have you tried moving diagonally?

You can use the 7, 9, 1 and 3 keys on the numpad to do that.

Well I was experimenting with a Dwarf, I got him INTO the cave, but now he is stuck


Any idea how to get him out

If you can't move up the ramps from any direction, and have tried Alt+move with no success, then you may have to give into starvation.

If you cant get up again, at least go down and kill the mighty beast.
But if you can get down, you usually can get up again
(unless you dropped down)

If its only 1 z-level, you COULD try luring the beast to the wall, and try to dodge up the cliff.

Curious, has anyone ever exited the underground from another cave entrance?
has anyone every been able to FIND Another exit to the caves?

My search fu and my experience says no.

It's possible, but it's ridiculously difficult. You'd have to know where to find the other cave beforehand or you could spend years real-time trying to find one. Especially since a systematic search is virtually impossible with being unable to tell keep track of where you've been.

And I don't think the "walk until under a town > fast travel" trick works anymore...

There's also the fact that there's rarely anything down there to kill and eat, or drink. And that it may not be safe to sleep.

  Are lakes uncommon?  It would be easy if we could harvest plants..

Step onto the up ramp that's one tile north of your character, then move diagonally southeast.

Southeast-up would put him inside a solid rock wall.  That's not going to work.
That ramp is not connected to the upper level.

Sleep's rarely an issue. I remember a time when I was trying to make a cavern adventurer, and when he went to sleep, he woke up, having sleepwalked straight up through several layers of solid rock. And if that doesn't work, and something attacks you, you've solved the food problem!
(I think sufficiently hungry adventurers can eat bugs and mud, which should be fairly common in the caverns.)
