The game's over. There's a new King of the Mafia.
The King is dead. Long live the King!
All hail King Leafsnail!in the interest that Leafsnail runs one, the KING MAFIA changes each Round. The whole game is several Rounds. There is a nightkill every Night, so long as the mafia chooses to use it.
I was waiting for this; thanks for confirming that it's
Leafsnail that's the King, not Shakerag. Nothing against Shake, of course, but it's true that the game was not won by him, but by Leaf
while on holiday. Bastard. There were plenty of clues. His "but then I won't knooow!" being the biggest, which I saw, and thought fishy, but his defence had been too good, Toaster's attack on Imiknorris too scummy, too close to end of day to reevaluate in detail... yeah; fair win by the winner, fair lose for the losers.
God save the King.I would like Leafsnail to run the next KotM game soon, and I'll
in for sure. But I know that in his place I'd wait at least a little bit, have a few days of basking on the title's glow before putting it up for auction again, so I don't begrudge him the gloating he is sure to do (as I would do) when he's back from Greece.
On the game itself, not much to say except:
a) Leafsnail did indeed play very well, very cautious and cunning. He avoided suspicion, and when I voted him he didn't flinch or show any scumminess whatsoever. It was extremely well played, worthy of the win and the title.
b) Toaster got scummier and scummier as the game went on. His last day attack on Imiknorris was pretty scummy overall (in context), so I felt justified to hammer him at the time. In hindsight I can see Leafsnail playing me like a fucking puppet, as I hadn't been played since VM3 (or 4, don't recall) by JanustwoFace, with Pandar taking the part of the other idiot townie...
c) The lack of nightkills was really confusing. Even rereading now, I'm not sure I fully understand it. Yeah, Tiruin delayed Leaf N2, but I'm not sure what happened to the N1 kill, and wuba never actually posted Leaf's full role, and actions for everyone.
wuba: please do.
For future reference, I copy here a couple of PMs I exchanged with wuba:
You are a Combined Disabler Doctor (town).
Combined Disabler Doctor
You can disable someone's role. That player will temporarily lose all abilities/characteristics until through the next night. You can protect other players from kills. Each protection stops one kill, and lasts for one night. You use both disable and protect when you action. Actions: special
Nice! Me likes. Still would like to know about precedence. So, you said if I'm blocked no disabling happens, but if I try to disable a PGO, am I dead or is he disabled? If I disable the mafiakill or vigkill that targets me, do I survive?
Disabling a role means it is unusable. No other aspects of the role are removed.
If you disable a PGO, you die. He is also disabled.
If you disable a kill (targets do not matter), it is not blocked.
You have one action. Your action is basically protect+disable. You cannot choose one or the other.
Hrrpmh. Me likes it less. Much less. It won't even prevent a killer from killing?! How is he disabled, if he already shot his load?
...I thought the disabler would be some sort of super-blocker, but now it seems he's only good at being marginally annoying and messing with passives. Am I missing something? Say, can I use it during the day? You didn't specify...
I guess it's too late, but unless there's some hidden very powerful use I'm missing, I'm thinking I'd like to bring it back to the store for a refund or replacement...
It is a delayed block, basically.
So, disabling someone N1 prevents their actions D2 and N2?
If you answer yes, then please clarify whether the target is protected N1, D2, N2, or all of the above? If you answer no, then please clarify what is it that I'm blocking? Under which circumstances would a mafiakill be prevented by a disabler?
To the first, yes. They are disabled until the END of N2. This means they cannot action D2 or N2.
They are, however, protected during N1.
Yes. All aspects of the role are temporarily disabled. This includes passive abilities as well.
Thanks, one more please:
Can you confirm that the scum has a nightly mafiakill, every night, regardless of who it is or what their role is?
... sure, they can't perform it the night they are disabled or blocked, or it may fail, or they can choose not to use it, but that nightly mafiakill ability is an inexorable part of the role of the current King Mafia, yes?
Yes. Part of the KING MAFIA role guarantees that you may mafiakill instead of your normal night action.
Finally, I have to say: wresting the King of the Mafia title from the random upcomer won't be nearly as satisfying as taking it from
you,
wuba. Games permitting, I'll eventually be it, at least for a little while, but it will never be remotely as cool as taking your purple mantle from your royal shoulders and placing it on mine. Maybe this: next round, you'll enter, I'll let you win, so you'll be it again, and
then I'll beat you, yes? ...otherwise I guess my last go at that is to find you on chess.com again and battle there for the other kingship. We ought to do that anyway, and I promise fun games and flavourful aftergame posts regardless of results. You up for it?
... it should never be forgotten that a King is still lower than an Ace, i.e., an
Emperor. But damn, I wanted to be both. Oh well.
