Keep attacking, she's got no close combat weapons and a sling is impossible to use up close as a missile weapon.
Dodge and disarm, use my sling as a parrying weapon, by wrapping it around yon axe! Or push Axel to the vines.
[3-1][4-1]Axel swings his axe, taking a moment to build up power. Ferren backs up, leaving Axel vulnerable as he recovers!
[6-1][2-1]Ferren tries to use her sling as a whip, but only achieves in leaving her left arm vulnerable as Axel slashes it off.
Ferren, dazed, can do nothing as Axel takes his boot and kicks her into the vines. The vines envelop her and drag her into the foliage. A splash can be heard and then Ferren is no more.
Congratulations Axel! You are our winner. Please stand by as your recent memories are suppressed...
You wake up in the middle of the lab, on the floor. You remember opening a test tube and smelling a rather volatile chemical before being knocked out. You check the time. You've been out for 6 hours, almost all night! You close up the lab and head back home and live a normal life, at least for a few weeks.
Little known to you, there is a little device in your skull, impossible to detect with human technology. It continuously transmits your location.

Once again, congratulations Axel. You get a free carry over bonus for the next iteration. You'll be playing the same character.
The carry over bonus will be an additional item. It's still in the works, and depends on the scenario, but I'm going to create a list of mundane items. Each character chooses one to start with. Axel, on the other hand, will get to choose two, or pick one of several 'premium' items, which are worth two items.
If he continues his win streak, he'll get increasing benefits. I'm not sure how many iterations I'll run, but hopefully at least 3. School is around the corner though, so I may stop it at 2 for a while.
So now for the big reveal. In the next spoiler I'll detail everything I made up/prepared in this game, whether or not you guys stumbled upon it. The amount of effort in the area corresponded to how much time you spent in it, since I was somewhat making it up as you guys encountered things. Next iteration that won't be the case
"Commence Rambling"
So we have our 5 areas.
Center: Stone circle, with broken pillars surrounding it. Safest area in the game. Had a pillar with a lunchbox in the center, containing 3 rations. Had pebbles scattered about it. Wildlife was the Ambush Snake, which had a paralytic bite. When Axel went looking for it, he rolled bad and his 'bait' was too small. If he had used, say a stick, it would have worked, since the Ambush Snake's eyes are underdeveloped and can only really detect size and motion.
Food wise, the Ambush snake could be cooked to remove poison and provide 1 ration. It also had a poison sack, which could have been harvested and used to coat weapons. Upon contact with enemies, the weapon would have paralyzed areas of the body.
The Whippersnapper was fully discovered, so no reason to put any info here.
Northern Forests: The ground is devoid of life, except for the evil vines. The vines, as you found out, were oversized pitcher plants, using their vines to catch prey and bring it to the pitcher, which then digested the prey. The vines used thermal senses combined with 'touch' to bring in their prey. If you had, for instance, built a fire or used a torch, the vines would have attacked the fire and been burned.
The vines were like a hivemind, all connected as one organism (except the pyramid one, which I made distinct and slightly different). The pitcher plants communicated with each other via 'communication roots' which connected the pitchers.
The cave system, which was the Northern Forest's challenge, housed the hivemind of the vines. It was basically the potato of the potato plant. It stored all the energy, but also was the 'brain', so to speak. The cave system was heavily guarded by vines, hiding in holes. The cave system also was very humid, making extinguishing of flames easy, if you slipped and fell in a pool of water, for instance.
If you had an axe and a source of flame though, the challenge would be easy. Upon killing the 'brain', all vine activity would desist and the forest would be safe. You'd also get several rations from the corpse, without having to cook.
The other life form, the so called 'black fruits', were actually primate tails. His bad roll combined with the distance made them look like fruit. The only way to reach them was to create some sort of ranged weaponry and hope to get a clear shot. The black primates ate the canopy leaves and never left it, living and dieing in the canopy.
There was nothing special about the mutant fern, besides conservation. It was just a giant fern.
Finely, the fungus someone found. If he had breathed in the 'puff', it would have given a -1 to actions for the next turn, but you wouldn't have gained hunger. I figured I'd give it three uses before you'd have to find more. Overall, it was a high risk, high gain item. It was supposed to slow down your metabolism, slowing your fast march to starvation, but overall giving you less energy to do anything.
The Eastern Jungle: The two predominant dangers in the Jungle were the 'lungfish' and the quicksand, which actually wasn't all that dangerous. The lungfish occupied the puddles along the path to the pyramid. The lungfish were based on a Stargate: Universe episode I remembered, where they're stuck on a jungle planet with no way to get back, due to a solar flare or something. There's these fish things that attack them and they use time travel and bla bla bla. It was just an inspiration.
Anyway, the fish were like lungfish, they could breathe air or water. They had strong limbs, akin to a frog, which worked in water or land. Their underdeveloped eyes faced upward, and they respond violently to loud noises. Their teeth were razor sharp and could cut through anything. The way to get past them was to crawl and stay silent, neither of which Pauly did.
The Pyramid was the challenge. I planned for it to be a series of puzzles and challenges, the rewards getting increasingly better the deeper you go. The 1st challenge was the egg or chicken puzzle. Axel answered correctly in egg, since genes are inherited from both the father and the mother. While the father and mother may only be 1/2 a chicken each, together they have chance of creating a chicken. Very simplified, but you get the idea. The reward was a small basket of eggs worth 1 ration uncooked, or 2 rations cooked.
The next challenge involved three pathways. One contained a vine plant, modified to live by itself. The 2nd contained a lungfish. The last one contained a spiked pit.
If you had a flame or an axe, the vine path was easy. If you knew the weakness of the lungfish, the lungfish was easy. The spiked pit was just a 50/50 shot of getting across, unless you had something to cross the gap with. They prize I hadn't decided yet, probably would have been a weapon, or maybe matchsticks.
The Western Lake: Basic premiss was a lake monster that lived in the lake. Fishing could be tried on the waters, but you risked getting attacked. If you swam into the lake, you'd find a cave system deep underwater. This was the challenge. The cave system contained an air pocket. Basic idea was to kill the lake monster somehow, since this was its nest, but since you guys never went near it I didn't further develop the idea.
The Southern Hills: This was the least developed. This was the safest area, if you exclude the center. I planned to have rocky deposits, allowing easy tool making if you had brought wood. There was supposed to be a lone animal, which ran away when you closed in on it. If you attacked it, it would attack you with surprising ferocity. Killing it would provide 1 ration, or 2 if cooked. The ambush snake was also supposed to dwell in these areas.
The challenge was a mountain. The idea was you had to climb it, while dealing with air problems and a potential native, like a murderous goat or something. At the top you would find something. I considered a revolver with 1 bullet in it.
Also, cookies to anyone who caught this. I said a 'dozen vines' for a while in the campsite info, and then dropped it about 6 turns in, signifying the campsite was safe.
Alright, sign-ups are full. I'll start working on the next scenario in probably a week. I've been neglecting my Let's Play for far too long.
